Is it intended that those videos are not listed?
Those shorter showcase videos are always unlisted. This way you can see them from the dev blog but they don't clog up the official youtube channel.
They are just on YouTube because apparently our own media server doesn't work on all browsers or soemthing.
Youtube is better, I don't know why but your own media server is way slower than youtube's one. Sometimes it took me ~2-3 minutes to load completely a video of 15 seconds
i wonder when we'll get the etk i series rally lights
the model is already in the dae file
Any news around Soliad Wendover coupe? Is it on hold, cancelled or being made? I've been waiting for it since last decade xd
It's still in progress but we are getting a baguette mobile that everyone but me will be slobberingly in love with first. The alternating pattern of promised cars and surprise cars will thus probably continue to the end of the promised cars.
Isn't the Wendover the last of these "promised" cars?
Anything Euro (from maps to cars to license plates to EUDM versions of the Japanese/American cars) will have this reaction, simply because there are so few Euro cars and they're released very infrequently. The devs could add the dullest, blandest vehicle ever, label it a British car, and everyone would freak out over it. The forums would've imploded if the Hopper were Russian or English.
Speaking of the devs...we now have firm confirmation that the concept list cars are gone.
I asked Diamondback if the concept list had been thrown out.
He succinctly replied:
With this one word, we can safely say that none of the concept list vehicles are coming. At all. There won't be a Civetta Fulmine, Jargl and Charmand exist no longer, the '92 Pessima and 2014 Covet/Roamer won't be coming, and all of the planned Bruckells from the list have been Thanos'd out of existence. We can forget "the list" ever happened now.
I think that when Gabester went into his semi-retirement, his ideas got thrown out.
As the old guard goes away, the new guard replaces their ideas with ones they come up with. In this regard, Beam is like any other business, or even any other organisation.
Why stick to a list when we get these pleasant surprises?
Stuff hasn't been "thrown out" , the "list" you refer to was never a roadmap or anything to begin with. We can't cancel stuff that wasn't even planned...
Because we also lose more pleasant opportunities.
I really wanted the Albatross!
--- Post updated ---
The ideas did exist, and some (e.g. Fulmine, 1104B, Albatross) were backed by forum posts.
Not sure how many more times we need to say it, the "list" has absolutely no meaning, it does not contain any promised content and can be fully disregarded.
That would be me. Right now I really want to see more variety in countries and drive trains. This new French i3/i5 is great to see; I really hope to see a British or Swedish car after the Wendover. I like making lists and feel the need to put one here.
America: 11 + Wendover
Britain: We Need
Sweden: We Need
Canada: Probably only if Wentward gets retcon'd to be Canadian, which IMO it ought to be
USSR: Unlikely but it would be nice
Misc. other countries I can think of: Unnecessary
Note about engines and drive trains:
There's been a lot of weird designs over the decades as people were still figuring things out. Currently we don't really have anything all that crazy, bar the battery placement in the eSBR. It would be nice to see some weird drive trains like the Corvair's rear engine + swing axle, or a V drive. Weird stuff like that would be a great way to show off the game and explore things that no other game could properly do. As for engines, V10, V12, Rotary/Wankel, and the list goes on.
Figure'd I'd toss my two cents into the above discussion. Half of those names would've never fit in with the current vehicle design language. Most of the list was too vague to even care about too. Most of the remainder covers niches too large to leave out (We need more Bruckells and a classic Euro GT regardless of the particulars). So, I don't see the big deal either way.
EDIT: Removed this part because it was blatantly wrong, and I should've never said it.
The Fulmine, the 1304 B, and the Albatross were definitely planned, because gabester talked about them, and his posts definitely suggested that he planned to implement them into BeamNG.
I don't know about the rest of the vehicles on the list, but those three definitely had something going for them. And AFAIK, they were also the only three that were ever mentioned outside the concept list, which is why I was far more interested in them than any of the others.
To be honest, I'm not certain that there's anything any of the devs can do to completely shut down the concept list. It's too ingrained into the BeamNG community's history at this point, and the presence of the Ibishu Hopper in-game now has just cemented it.
To be honest, I view the list as a Schrodinger's Cat. All the cars on it are in the simultaneous state of being discarded ideas and in-development vehicles until either:
The vehicle is released (or development of it is confirmed)
Development of the game is entirely halted, permanently
While I do respect the dev team's authority to cancel any or even all of them permanently, I think that it might not be the best of ideas to unilaterally discard all of them at once. There were about twenty cars on that list - and chances are that they might want at least three or four of them to round out the vehicle selection sooner or later.
Personally, I do find myself cheering on the Beaufort idea especially - my understanding was that it was intended to be a late-seventies/early-eighties American RWD full-size sedan, which I would want for no other reason than the potential to re-enact the police chases from films of that era.
TL/DR: If the dev team truly want to declare every vehicle on the list non-canon right now, then they can do so. I do hope that they do not, if for no other reason than keeping their options open for later.
I'm different there. You can't just wave something like that in people's faces and then say "well too bad, you ain't getting it!" and then expect no reactions. I don't subscribe to that idea.
That concept list haunts Gabester and the dev team even in dreams.
It was never confirmed.
