WCUSA is certainly a map where a lot of space, in my opinion, was wasted by the race track. I think that more suburbs and roads would have been nice. I would have loved to see more roads on Industrial Site too, but there's only around 3 short roads.

I kinda like the idea that WCUSA tries to do, making a racetrack on a (non-abandoned) map you can also free-roam. For example, I could drive around, and then when i'm bored of that, I can go to a racetrack with my same car, without having to switch maps. No other map does this, and it is a great concept, except it is taking up a lot of space. Perhaps they can move the racetrack on to a different spot in WCUSA, maybe on that island that's connected via the bridge.

WCUSA will be 100% serviceable with the remaster. Instead, if we want a 100% urban/suburban map, an Australian city would be ideal. Think of it as a homage to Riverside Expressway.

But in all seriousness, the raceway needs to be moved out of the map, and the space previously allocated to the raceway be buildings and roads and whatnot.

Pretty sure that the only time anything on that track that's used is the drag strip.

Well p_ants, good luck trying to remove it properly.
Wcusa is just mostly modeled instead of actually done with the mapping tool

Sorry but I need to say this after this WCUSA "hate". I like WCUSA!
Would it be nice to have a bigger city layout? Yes! But not if you need to remove the race track. As someone said before its nice to drive around in the city and if you get bored you can just go to the race track without changing the map or you can drive on the highway.
I'm sure that the devs would make the map larger if it is possible and worth the effort. Maybe it was not possible before because of hardware limitations but now with the next gen hardware I think that more than just the top level gaming pc's could handle a larger map. And they could also upload the current map as a mod for lower end pc's. Or its not possible or not worth the effort.
I dont know what they want to do with WCUSA but I'm sure that they are doing their best!

They just need to optimize it. How come Italy, which is way bigger and complex than WCUSA, work flawlessly while WC struggles at certain camera directions? That's the main issue with this map. It was the first of its kind featuring a city and countryside this big but there's a lot of work to be done on the game engine.
Why would I want Downtown fully rendered while I'm in the racetrack? I guess maps should be divided in portions so they can have different LODs, just like GTA or any other open world game. Then and only then we could expect bigger or more detailed maps.

OT: Is it just me or the Devblog is waaay too slow?

The majority of the devs are in Germany. Germany is very strict on COVID restriction, I bet a lot of the Dev's are currently working from home. As a result, it probably isn't as easy to share progress.

Not really, it was always pretty slow-paced.

Development has always been slowpaced, and follows a rather predictable patern of about 130 days between updates (if i recall correctly). The only time development was any "faster" was back in the experimental branch days a few years ago.

I think he might mean it's physically slow, like, I've noticed that pictures on the devblog page take MUCH longer to load than on the forums. No idea why, maybe they are higher quality or something.
