Did it? I remember these trucks giving up due to the neglect a cheapo compact truck gets, not due to rust. Even the one I saw at a junkyard lately looked OK for a nearly 20-year-old pickup, though it was dented up and had the interior carpets covered in corn (ex-chicken coop?)
Once rust got the frame they did thend to breaknin half especially if your average polish user of that truck loaded it up with 2 tons of stuff. Also suspension mounts weren't really resistant to rust either, I saw a few polonez trucks with rear axle escaping from under the car when taking a corner.
It would not fit in the frame. And then when we change the frame, we change the body, then the gearbox, etc. and it's not a Bolide anymore.
If your truck collapsed because you loaded it with twice as much as it's allowed to carry...it didn't break because of rust. Your stupidity and/or greed were the cause instead.
I know, but remember that those trucks were built when everything was supposed to carry everything also some of them just broke in half due to extreme rust problems even without overloading them. FSO was a great construction, but for 80s later it was just outdated. Okay end of the offtopic conversation about car that TG called the worst car. I wonder what versions will the new car have. Fold rood would be cool as well as some sort of a wagon like the origial fiat 500l
Plus it doesnt make sense, Italian sports cars / supercars really only stuck with one type of engine.
Assuming it will bear at least some resemblance to the VW, it could have a fastback and wagon variant, like the type 3. A full convertible would be nice, I don't think Beam even has one of those yet, only mods. A van variant would be amazing, but very unlikely. Ditto a Thing/other offroad variant, but it shouldn't be too hard to make a baja bug out using the parts selector. Type 3 wagon and fastback
I just want a small italian city car, and I do not like VWs, so I might as well turn some thing junk into actually something nice.
