updater not working

i haven't played the game for a few weeks now but every time i try and update i always get the message below, any ideas?

 

Well there hasn't been an update in more than 8 months, so why are you updating it?

 

i did it automatically when i started the game up and came up with that error so i assumed it was trying to download something

 

It means you have a proxy server. Download Malwarebytes and run it, get rid of the bad stuff, and go onto ie and settings and you should find a box to uncheck the proxy thing.

Or antivirus or firewall as first resorts (norton for example blocks it)

If its automatically done it it means you've modified one of the original game files and the game is trying to restore it back to how it was.

 

right i tried the above options and still nothing, my firewall is not blocking it and i havent changed a thing since i last played it maybe a month ago. I just went on it today, the little update bar came up like it normally does and instead of downloading anything i just got that message. i dont mess about with files etc on my pc as i dont no what im doing. The only thing i have done to the game at all is add a couple of cars and maps.

 

seems to have sorted itself, started the game today and the updater did what it needed to do without having a fatal error

i've tryed to install the game for the first time and always get these messages thet the updater can't download files. And every time it's a different file that he could not download.

In your case, ensure you have an upto date directX9 install (10 and 11 *DO NOT* count, must be 9) and your graphics card drivers are upto date.

 

nope, it tries to update, pops that error, the the un-updated game runs.

 

that is a directX error and the updater does not use directx

 

So can i fix it?

 

besides tdevs link to the new setup, ensure you have upto date GPU drivers and an upto date DX9 install. DX10 and 11 are not backward compatible with 9 so it must be DX9.
