What's required to be done in order to make the sound's work on older mods? I'm very tired of my favorite mods constantly breaking so I've decided to go about learning to update them myself. I figured I would start with the sound system since most mods from 2017 or older have entirely broken, completely missing sound.

Are there any guides to this? I'm assuming its probably a fairly simple deal of converting the audio configuration over from the old sound systems config, to the new one.

depends on the powertrain system. updating the mod is easy depending on the system

Agreed.. If you want to use the game's new engine sounds you're going to have to change the whole power train, which is 'a little tricky'.
I've used this method once recently but I lost the files cause they were still in the overriding folder of the user vehicles map and I forgot
to back them up before clearing cache. (hmm.. they might be ended up in backups idk think I removed those too) :)
The most tedious part of the process imo is changing the slots correctly since the old system has everything in the engine jbeam and
the new system has different jbeam files for the individual power train parts. So technically if you want new sounds for old system then
the entire power train has to be remade jbeam wise.
