DECEMBER 2024 UPDATE: Finally have gotten around to learning how to jbeam this monster. Progress is slow, but happening. Current parts functioning ingame include: - 410ci and 360ci V8 & radiator - Tubular chassis - Front and main body shells - All bumper/nerf bars (double bar, single bar, and shortys) - Rear fuel cell - Front straight axle* (* mesh and node/beam structure ingame but not functional) Planned parts, with finished mesh, include: - Steering box, arm, link, tie rod - Torsion arms, shocks, and radius rods - 5'x5' top wing and 3'x2' front wing - Hubs and brakes - Body shell and nerf bar variations (currently three of each) - Full containment seat - 15" wheels, 10" front width, 16" RL, 18" RR plus tires - Rear live axle with rightside W-link and birdcages Planned parts with no mesh: - Interior (gauges, levers, pedals, etc.) I've hit a hard brick wall on creating the suspension jbeam, so don't expect updates to pick up pace much if at all. I will try to update as things go. (Yes, I know USAC does not run wings.) Original post: In the 8 years that I've been playing this game, I've always wanted a proper sprint car. Since day one, that was my very first thought upon learning of the game: "Oh hey, I wanna drive a sprint car in that" and yet here we are, 8 years later, and still no sprint car. I started working on this model back in 2015(?), forgot about it, found it, and here we are. Everything is modeled except for wheels/tires, steering wheel, driver net, and steering linkage(, and wings.) I'd like to make a winged version sometime but I'm just so busy that I don't see that happening. Which brings me to the biggest aspect of this: I have absolutely no idea how to jbeam and simply don't have the time to learn (working full time and have a newborn daughter) It's going to require a whole new jbeam, ground up, and I haven't made bounding-boxes or anything for the model, it's just a 3D model at the moment. I've got engine sounds (no idea what to do with them) and I can texture the model fairly quickly once I get down to it, but if there is anybody out there that has the time, knows how to jbeam, and cares enough about having a sprint car in-game: Here you go. As long as I get credit for the model, I really don't care what happens with it.
I’d suggest watching how J-Beam and nodes work, and tutorials on the Beamng wiki. Only thing I know atm is how to meshslap, pm me if you want to know how. (That is one way of getting it in game) Im not an expert either, but only tip I have is like said to watch tutorials and read the wiki, it contains a lot of useful information
I would love for this to happen, tho its gonna be strange for the way beam works i bet people will love it. ( I only make tracks.......) But if you want i could work on a dirt track....
I still have this model, but day job doesn't allow me to make any progress or learn how to finish. Still would be willing to ship the files off on somebody that's able, if there's any interest, but outside of that I wouldn't expect this to see the light of day.
If you send all the files on Discord (SFKCKL684) I will be REALLY REALLY HAPPY to get it working. I have a few connections and I've ALWAYS wanted a sprint car in BeamNG. I also run a BeamMP racing server and having a sprint car league would be sick. Feel free to DM me at any time and send me the files if you wish.
Goodbye, ugly all-orange engine. Hello distributor+cables, oil filter, and other internal hoses/lines.
12/16/24 Update: - Rear live axle modeled with accurate W link, birdcage, and rods. - Bend added to the steering link to accommodate the turned wheel. - Steering box and arms added. - Remodeled dry sump tank. - Wheels modeled but untextured. Decided against any regulation safety straps/chains for parts, such as on the steering link or engine block - maybe once I'm more experienced with jbeam. Next todo list: - Oil pan - Cam mounted power steering and fuel pump + hoses - Full containment seat - Gear and fuel levers, ignition switch, water temp and tacho gauges, interior etc. - Hydraulic pump and hoses
12/18/24 Various mesh cleanup and detailing. Wheels and tires, full containment seat, and more part variations modeled. Wings remodeled and resized/repositioned. Pictures updated. Minus a few small immersion parts, I think modeling is more-or-less done for now. Time to focus on getting this beast ingame - expect updates to slow down lol
Dude. I cannot believe my eyes. This is the single greatest thing in beamng drive. The amount of work you have put into this is crazy man. I wish you luck.
Ran into some problems UV mapping the chassis so I'm going back and remodeling that with a better topography. Slowly but surely making progress learning how to get the suspension working - heavy influence from the rockbasher suspension parts.
Let me know if you need any help. My server has a few people I'm sure I can get you connected with. If I'm honest, no guarantee but I can see what I can do. Also, I will be very happy to help with early testing once it's ready. Please keep me updated on progress as my server has been very invested in this mod and it's development. If you ever need anything, we would love to be able to help where possible.
I have a full model I did from scratch part by part following multiple sprintcar build videos. could it be of use? what poly count do we usually look for on beamng vehicles? This ones 900k verts. I'm also working on a mid poly version.I havent bothered to wrap my head around modding the game just yet as ive just got it my and brains pretty fried right now but the modelling and unwrapping is easily done on my end. --- Post updated --- Everything is exactly to scale. Got measurements on everything.
More details on birdcage, radius rods, torsion arms, and steering links. Pedals and a few interior levers/switches.
Looks really clean, is that a 410 sprint? Kinda looks like a midget. Not off turbosquid or anything like that?
