Hey, just wondering if it was fine to use a modified version of the D-series chassis with a mod I'm working on and of course giving credit where it's due (who made the truck originally anyways?) when/if I end up releasing it. Thanks! Edit: This popped into my head too - when going about modeling for Beamng, I think I remember reading somewhere that it's best to make the model with thickness to it rather than a flat plane. Is this true and what are the consequences of not using thickness?
Yes sure, no problem. Assuming that I completely understand what you mean -> without thickness the game engine won't render the inner part of a mesh. Cause usually game engine's render engines just render the side of the face which the normal of it is pointing towards(as long as you don't use any fancy double-sided shader). E.g. you can see this effect when moving the camera below terrain Video - Click to Play - Direct Link That's why all the models have this thickness - like in reallife.
Sweet. I may or may not use it, solely because I have no idea how to model a strut/leaf/shock with as little detail as possible (but make it look like one). I have a thickness setup on my model for the most part. Not the best looking job though (just a beginner). Is there an easier, cleaner way to get thickness in blender without random bits clipping through each other?
