I personally don't like V8s all that much. For me, anything bigger than a V6 is just too much displacement. I also am not a huge fan of muscle cars, but if I had to choose between, for example, a turbo V6 or a NA V8 in a muscle car, I'd definitely go with the V6.
Well, there are good V6 muscle cars tho... And if you also include Aussie ones: (I know both are straight-6s, but who cares, if they are 6-cylinders) OT: As long it have decent power, I'm okay with 6-cylinders on muscle cars.
For my opinion, i dont really care, aslong their owners arent the biggest assholes, that keep saying they would beat the crap out of their V8 counterparts. I myself am just 15 years old, so i dont have a car, but since i was little we had an Audi S2, and damn, that 5 Cyl sounded sexy. In 2016 my dad sold it and he bought an 2008 Audi RS6 Plus, and i freaking love this car, its 5 Liter V10 has an amazing sound, the Topspeed of 300 kph is best for the Autobahn and it has plenty of space... (Sorry that i have might gotten Off-Topic) But i think, they deserve their place, what gives them bad reputation are their owners. --- Post updated --- Sorry for double post, but i forget to Put Pictures of the two cars in, and i just get Errors when i try to edit my Post Spoiler: RS6 Spoiler: S2 I love that wine red btw
Aren't you overreacting? What's wrong with V6 muscle cars? The 1987 Buick is such a beautiful car. It seems more like a supercar if you ask me.
478cid V6 would classify as a muscle I guess?: http://6066gmcguy.com/478v6.html Was Viper's V10 originally a truck motor? With proper tune that 478cid V6 would make that muscle car move just fine
Since you bring it up, the Viper engine was based loosely on the truck engine, but most of it was specific the the Viper actually being designed by Lamborghini.
All I remember from some magazine article from early 90's that Viper had some truck originated parts, didn't remember Lambo being involved though! I bought Original NFS when that came out around mid 90's because of the Viper, nobody probably even remembers the original game: http://nfs.wikia.com/wiki/Dodge_Viper_RT-10 Max power @4600rpm, you don't need rpm, you need cubic inches, put lot of cubic inches to V6 and that is a muscle car territory too. Small motors and muscle cars don't mix, it's just that way.
Coming from someone that owns an original 4 cylinder Mustang (the one without the turbo) I can attest to that statement... The car is a turd. The only plus point is that you feel like your going fast because you have to drive it so high up in the rev range everywhere you go... and yes... the is the only plus point. Even my fuel mileage is rather similar to a V8 Mustang. Hell... my Corvette gets better fuel mileage than my 4 cyl Mustang.
Oddly enough, also as a truck owner... having had 2 with v8's and 2 with i6's... honestly... I would take an i6 truck over a v8 any day of the week. They are so much smoother and have their torque so much lower in the rev range that it makes them a joy to own, drive, and do actual work with. Plus, when you set them up with split headers, they can sound just as mean, if not meaner, than any v8 just because of how big the pistons are. Plus, the fuel mileage is way better with an i6 (not exactly sure as to why there, because I had a 300-6 and a 302 v8 so you would think it would be similar) for the same displacement.
