Re: Volvo 850 (Will be a complete mod) Hmm, it's a bit high-poly... Might want to reduce that before you put it in BeamNG.
Re: Volvo 850 (Will be a complete mod) I agree, it might burn up my computer anyway, looking good so far
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) Maybe. Here's a look at no subdivision surface I could do two versions, but it's already getting complicated with three wheel options
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) I drive this car in real life... I think I might be unreasonably excited to see this in game. I love you. Why not use the Forza model? I thought the devs were now okay with using models of other games. Possible options: Painted plastic door trim pieces (the ones near the bottom)/black plastic (the fender flare texture from the D-15) Link: http://tenwheel.com/imgs/a/b/t/r/a/..._oil_leak_and_needs_suspension_work_1_lgw.jpg The rims from the above link Spoiler/No spoiler Tinted windows (integrated, I can do it with Paint.NET, but I'm lazy ;p) Boost settings for the turbo (programmer essentially)
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) because forza models have no where near the amount of detail that a good beamng mod would have (such as no undercarriage)
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) Ahh, Yes! I've been waiting for a Volvo for a long time! so I can laugh at the poor crash quality
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) Oh nice! very sexy cars these, it's a shame they're wrong wheel drive though... Regardless, it's a great car, and I look forward to seeing yours The high poly model itself won't affect your computer. It's a complex jbeam that causes the lag (e.g the Moonhawk jbeam is much more detailed than the Covet's, and thus it has worse FPS performance). That said, this model should not have this many faces, as I will explain below. I advise you to use no subdivision at all. It is really not a good thing, and screws up your polyflow. It's okay to use it for static, rendered models (though I prefer the look without it), but for gaming models, especially when they deform, the polygons should be placed manually. Your model there without subdivisions is much better, I'd work with that one Because Forza models are terrible for BeamNG (especially their AE86, it's got so many errors it might as well be an S12 Silvia), and I'm sure ky13harbor9 can make a model many times better than Turn 10, complete with a detailed chassis, and with a realistic poly count to detail ratio. Furthermore, almost every GTA modder (and many others) go to Forza conversions, such that it's rather boring to do so (and not to mention unethical, it's just ripping off the creators work). Finally, Forza's high polycount does not pose to well for deformation (another reason to conserve polys on your model). u wot m8? Volvo's have unparalleled crash quality. If anything, the Volvo 850 should be laughing at you for being a twat and crashing it
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) BeamNG has trouble mapping high poly meshes to the lower poly JBeam too. A 1:1 mapping in densities perhaps works best, but of course is entirely unreasonable. I think just sticking to the same poly flow and density gabester uses in the stock vehicles is for the best. Same for JBeam.
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) Very cool, BeamNG needs an estate barge to slam into things. Is this based on the Grand Marshal or a massively stretched hatch?
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) Very cool, if you get too bored after this make a 740 wagon aswell .
Re: Volvo 850 Estate/Wagon (Will be a complete mod) Agh, well about the poly count... Some things happened, some things were said, and I can't go back now. It's a million poly's for the mesh. Maybe I can cherry pick out the extras if the performance is too low. Whoops, -Ky13harbor9 Edit: I may have to restart the whole exterior panels ._. Edit again: I have the forza model and I will be stealing textures because that's the only way I can get them Y'know the drill: I will be restarting the project in interest of model accuracy and mesh performance. AGH I HATE BLENDER STUPID NO REDO Tonight: I've had enough. This project will take some time to restart... - - - Updated - - - It will actually be based on my mits pajero mod
I own one of these. It is sitting 20 feet from me right now. If you want pics, give me detailed lists of where and what not.
Heck yes they are better than a Ferrari! I love mine <3. Sport mode on my 850 GLT (Low compression turbo version) is pretty awesome. Changes up my shift points and makes it run so sexy... Economy mode makes her get 22MPG, which for a 1997, is pretty good. I just have such a love affair with mine because my parents bought it brand new in 1996 (when I was born) and I just bought it from my oldest brother two years ago. REALLY love these cars. I got unreasonably excited when I found the 850 mod for SLRR a few weeks ago.
I'd admit to a polite interest in this car, since I have seen a video of someone abusing the holy heck out of it, crushing compacts and other things that would keep your insurance agent awake at night. You HAVE to make it like this: Thanks!
