I was thinking about this for a while now and thought it might be something to bring to discussion… BeamNG recently released the Aurata, a side by side, which in my opinion is pretty good.

However, I still feel like something is missing. BeamNG has been releasing a lot of off-road vehicles lately and I’ve heard many people would like to have more road-focused cars now. But before they move off the topic, I was thinking about what it would be like to have a lineup of ATVs for the game. It seems so necessary since there are so many things you could do with an ATV, especially now that we have the Johnson Valley map to roam around in.

I thought of some ideas of trim levels of ATVs that could be seen (variants):

90cc: Small kids size with a tiny frame and a 90cc air cooled engine

125cc: Larger kids size model but with a bigger engine and tires

200cc: Base full size model with 2WD and liquid cooled engine

450cc: Higher trim with 4WD and upgraded suspension with better tires

700cc: Top tier level with 4WD, and all the bells and whistles

Of course, they could add a race or drag variant or even one for the Gambler 500.

This is just an idea, as it could be changed as needed for development but seems like a neat idea in my opinion. People will probably say they already have the FPU Wydra but it’s not even remotely close to the structure of an ATV in my opinion.

Hirochi Trailblazer? Lol… Let me know what you guys think! Any ideas appreciated!

There are a few ATV mods you should check out. Plus we already do have ATVs in BeamNG. We have that Danish zero-turn tank thing. That's kinda an ATV so to speak, so I can't imagine we'd be getting an ATV too soon because that was added to the game not that long ago. But this mod is a good mod, it adds ATVs, golf carts, and that one 3 wheel ATV that used to hurt people in the 1980s.

And a normal ATV that still manages to do the same...

My friend has one of those Hondas. They were nicknamed the "Collarbone Crusher" in the '80s. It's pretty fun.

Shall we continue the stubble hostility and meme-filled antics from the Scout mod, in the general discussion thread? (Im writing this here to get their attention).

Those ATVs are fun looking though.

    No that would be terrible
    yes yes yes yes

Those ATVs are definitely fun looking but I'd be worried about flipping it over and landing on my neck like a bunch of people did when they were riding them. Also reminds me apparently kids used to ride those 3 wheel ATVs as well which is crazy.

The Wydra is a type of ATV - an amphibious ATV. They were the first type of ATVs, created back in the early-'60s - about a decade before the modern ATV. And it's Polish - the first (and so far only) official vehicle to come from a European country east of Germany.

Although I wouldn't oppose having a more modern-style ATV in the game - would go nicely with the Wydra and Aurata, and it'd hopefully be the first vehicle to have a single- or twin-cylinder engine.

I completely agree with you as the Wydra is cool but if we could have a regular ATV it would not only go with the Aurata but simply be a good addition. If they can add something as silly as the Wydra then they should definitely add an ATV. Come on, what better game to drive an ATV than BeamNG???

When the Wydra came out , people complained about it , so the players would be very angey if they added more instead of working on something else.

    I would find this cool

The Wydra is disliked because it's skid-steer.

I think it's also disliked because it's incredibly difficult to drive, and it's kinda dumb. I'm gonna be real, I think it's dumb. I can't even drive it for 1 minute without it saying "clutch overheating" and if you play BeamNG with a wheel then it's absolutely pointless. Also, it's not very capable as a vanilla vehicle, you'd think it'd be very good at off-roading but no, any hill that's more than 20° it will just slide down. There's also the fact that driving off-road in BeamNG just isn't as fun as Snowrunner or Mudrunner. It's fun to do in the right vehicles, sure, it's fun to crawl over rocks as well, but I personally get absolutely no joy out of using a very incapable skid steer when I know damn well they're supposed to be much more capable than that. I honestly wish they didn't even add that thing. I would've been more happy with a real ATV or almost anything else. But that's just my take I'm sure there are people playing Beam who use it every day.

To be honest I totally agree. Why can’t they just add a plain ol’ ATV???

Small/very light vehicles don't agree with the BeamNG.drive physics at all, they bounce around a lot and just act weird.

Every so often I push the limits with Automation, and anything under like 800lbs does NOT get along well with the physics engine. Even when you scale everything else down with it you still end up with a bouncy ball or a game breaking car. To be fair it is Automation but still.

I think something light like an ATV wouldn't really work with BeamNG because that requires a lot of human instinct and weight-shifting influence to drive correctly. I would expect weird bouncy behavior without a human.
