Yup, I know that much, I do my own oil changing, muffler repair, stereo installations, water-pumps, hoses, alternators, and other basic maintenance (windshield wipers). I am asking about the Subaru because I have not had one before and all cars have their quirks. The weekend shit show from the dealer went as thus. I asked for a specific service from them three times, they performed one part of that service. I said I would like the headlamps aligned, they replaced the bulb. I said there is a knock in the rear suspension, they replaced a sway bar link and the knock in the suspension is still there. I was able to get refunded for the bullshit headlamp communication, however at least I have a new sway bar link that may or may not have been needed, plus their diagnosis of "IF YOU DO NOT repair your HEad Gaskets from this leaking oil/coolant terror, your engine will seize! I know that much, but want to know how accurate they are based on time with regard to who actually knows if this thing is going to lock. Cause, you are right, and I have not seen any loss of fluids.
Subaru Boxers have a major reputation for leaky head gaskets. That much is certainly true. However you would see both contamination of the coolant and loss in fluid levels. If you're sure you aren't losing fluids, I think the garage are probably hoping you'll cotton on to the subaru reputation and get the needless gasket replacement. Keep an eye on it anyway. Perhaps mark on the side of the coolant bottle what the current level is and take a photo of the dipstick or something. Check it every few days. Garages are annoying. Takes awhile to find one that you are happy to use and trust. For me, that leaves me with 2, and there is no conflict between each other as one is a standard mechanic but doesnt like to deal with tyres and stuff, the other is a tyre place There are places in town that do both, they do both terribly. Mechanic I use, very nice guy and quite happy to take you out and show exactly what he wants to do the car before he does it, unlike one of the other places in town who will carry out and charge you for work you probably didnt need and didnt ask to be done. Actual franchise/dealership garages I find are generally crap and will always overcharge (£90 vs me doing a DIY job for £2.50, suck on that vauxhall). My car is due an oil change. Might throw a magnetic drain plug on it while I'm at it.
Got a pair of speakers for my mom's car, fronts first because money, cheapest ones at Walmart at the moment. Scosche HDs. Not too bad, I free-aired them on my Lepai, sound a bit bright, but when installed in the doors will bump rather well. I don't know why, but the fronts are 6.5s, and the rears are 5.25s. Yay GM.
If your head gasket is leaking and it's internal, you'll notice that the oil will be milky either on the dipstick or when you drain t he oil. If this is the case, it is definitely a priority. If the oil isn't milky and you see no signs of leakage, they're probably trying to bone you
I purchased it. Then I drove it home. Now I need to phone insurer to transfer my policy to it from the corsa and pay for its road tax.
Nice. That thing handles like a bigger go-kart, and is an overall great car. Source: Dad has a Focus SE 5 speed.
Cool, but you aren't in the photo. Will you resell it? What are its specs and monkey in the wrench? Here is my ride today, a grocery go getting. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=476957718afbe6a2!130&authkey=!AOusS6gs9rWslgY&ithint=album,
It is a year 2000 Ford Focus Ghia Estate. Has the 1.8l 16v engine, 113hp or so. 5 speed manual. 148000 miles approx. Although those engines are known to just keep on going. Monkey in the wrench? None found. All that's wrong with it except the incredibly minor car park scuffs is a torn door lining on front passenger side and the supposedly factory installed cd changer (got a note about it having one in the docs) is absent. Everything works including air con, no warning lights on dash. All good for £495. Been informed I apparently photographed it on a windows xp background. Not selling it, yet. Daily driver. - - - Updated - - - I second the bigger go-kart. Its so much better planted to the road than the corsa was.
Only downside is that I made a pretty shitty job on applying the film, there are air bubbles and small folds on the film. It's not the end of the world though, the film was from Ebay for 2€ so I can rip it off if I want to.
Do you have more film? With time, you could take hint from the removed headlights Porche Cayenne. Unless that is what you already did, step 1, remove headlamps, step 2 apply film without limit from Audi body, step 3 replace filmed headlamps and enjoy.
If the 80's headlights are anything like those in my A4, it's a two minute job to remove them; there are literally 3 torx bolts holding it in place.
I wouldnt say I have an aversion to the tint, I just wouldn't have bothered if I owned the car. Not to my liking perhaps, but ain't gonna offend anyone. More important what you think of it, its your car.
I think it would look better if you left the headlights clear and installed a couple of small, rectangular fog lights and tinting them instead. But yet again, it's just personal preference. Also, I'm getting cross drilled front brake rotors and brake pads in today from Turner Motorsports, I'll make a post about it in detail when I get home. I know that cross drilled rotors can wear out the pads sooner than the original rotors, but I thought I would give them a try. I also plan on ordering stainless steel brake lines soon for better brake feel.
:| nay. totally nay for the main headlamps, but would be yay for the foglamps. (imported from here) Yellow foglights on older cars are neat, but the main headlamps are just ugly.
The idea of having yellow foglights is a very good one...if I had some. I could find a bumper with foglights and swap it with the old one. That idea might not be too shabby. The foglight bumper looks like this:
