So we have a thread for the worst mods people have downloaded, why not one for the best I'll start with the oldsfullsize, it was a great mod at it's time of release, would be great to see it updated, now that BeamNG has graphics worthy of its spectacular model
DFA Pack by iRetrox. This mod adds much more variations to the D-Series, which includes 4 facelifts and some accessories. So if You like D-Series, this mod is for You!
FR17 if I'm being honest. I'm an F1 fan and it's one of THE BEST F1 mods that I've ever used. Other than that, the AN-12
I don't tend to download that many car mods anymore, as they really tend to break with each update. But I'd love to mention a few of my favorite map mods which I think are among the best, AFAIK they all still work despite being very old, as maps are pretty resilient to against updates breaking them. Altitude, which is really old but incredibly beautiful and fun, and despite having only one main road, with a bit of creativity you can find a lot of things to do on it. One day I plan on maybe making a scenario/quickrace pack for it, if I get permission of course. And Beam Mountain which I used to play a lot. And both Ghosts' Desert and Canyon Of Speed which are simply great. Also- an honorable mention to "Crash Junctions" scenario pack by @Occam's Razer which I believe is completely broken nowadays, but it was fun while it lasted!
Easily Oldsfullsize best mod ever, was ahead of its time and still holds up great. Gavril CB-40 is another amazing mod of really high quality, it's temporarily broken but will be fixed soon I hope. Los Injurus map, highest quality map mod ever despite still not being finished. And idk if it counts yet but the DeLorean mod update will definitely be one of the best mods once it's out.
i'd personally say between the oldsmobile, the DeLorean (especially the remastered WIP) or the Satsuma in cars, maps would probably be Endless Highway, spent so many hours in it
I don't know if best single mod will cut it, so I go for best mod in category. @bob.blunderton 's Los Injurus map https://www.beamng.com/threads/a-new-city-map-los-injurus.57055/, there is no other mod that has so much work, effort and dedication put into it. Also @default0.0player 's automatic transmission mod which without I don't like to drive automatic cars in this game https://www.beamng.com/resources/updated-shiftlogic-automatic-transmissions.16947/ For car mod, I'm not sure about best, but I go for @jojos38 's improved Gallardo mod https://www.beamng.com/threads/improved-lamborghini-gallardo-v1-15-3.80412/ as I find it quite enjoyable to drive around and pretty much only car mod I have played recently. Also I do like idea of positive thread like this much better than that somewhat negative worst mod thread
@fufsgfen Thanks for the mention, I'm trying to make Los Injurus the one-stop shop for all the a player would need or desire for in one map. One day it will be finished - that could be a year or years away but I don't mind, and being disabled I haven't much else I can do anyways - so no loss on my part, I enjoy it. OLDS FULLSIZE, this just goes without saying. Jumping a junkyard olds through an unlevel intersection like Nevada Interstate or Los Injurus has plenty of, and seeing the doors fall off is priceless. The farming equipment mod from 2018 or 2017, where I hooked up a combine harvester and harvested a line of 19 pianos in downtown Rockwood from Roane County. I laughed so hard I very nearly went to the bathroom where I sat, and had a sore gut for a day or two from 10 minutes of tear-shedding laughter. I never ever laughed so hard at a video game, not even at the cat launchers in Postal 2. Canyon of speed has a special place in my heart. Seeing at on YBR out of the blue made me buy this game. Black Hills by Ouerbacker was the map that made me was to start building a highway. I was going to build an actual freeway in desert highway, but iheartmods didn't give me permission and Ouerbacker was elated to have his map get a highway. I'd like to hope Ouerbacker does not regret his decision. I had so much fun doing it I built a test map near simultaneously to test open-world game performance and use in this game, this became Roane County. It was never finished (Nevada Interstate is functionally complete, but may get some more buildings later on down the line), but it was only a large map test and Roane County will hence be finished one day after Los Injurus is done and I can optimize it well. Roane County will get an update for it's broken graphics hopefully before September is out. I am a bit behind on things with the city map and my health, so I might just break the warnings for 'no normal' and 'no specular' no-texture issues due to format change, and consider it a 'fix' even though that's really a ghetto way to fix it (it will do the trick, though, and make minutes of what would be a 3~5 days of work or a little less). Altitude. Now that's a fun one. Doullpepper at his finest. I enjoyed the great terrain (better than mine!), and the custom models (well made!) with great performance as-always, way better than Canyon of speed. Ghost187 (if that is indeed his name) has made a good flood control canal map and parking garage / desert wreckage map, enjoyed all those. Garfield heights is very good if a bit on the small side but gives the detail where other maps including my Roane County lack. One day we won't have to choose quantity or quality, one day a map will come along and check all or at-least most of the boxes we all desire. It won't happen without community involvement / voice and of-course support contributions. It takes more than one person to do it, even I cannot do it alone (and I am not the best mapper, though I try)... and try I shall. If it does me in that is fine, but I will try try and try some more and enjoy every hour (or almost every hour) I put into that effort. The rewards for making game environments or games themselves is so much better of a feeling than just playing them. In-fact, I feel selfish playing a game or building an awesome base in Fallout 4 when I could build something for BeamNG that 250,000+ folks can enjoy (judging from downloads on Los Injurus, and even more if you include Nevada or Roane County). Want a city badly enough? Tired of Simcity 4? Is Skylines too slow / laggy? You can build it in BeamNG! My MRK models are free for all to use, if you need help using them, open the models up in a text editor and look for the material index to see what textures it wants. They're all in there. Just download Los Injurus, browse to the art/shapes/MRK folder and grab the curb kits, SWO (sidewalk only kit) and some others as-needed (some bridges or tunnels), and make your own city map. It's all modular and most of it fits together readily even on a 0.2 grid snap. The modular road kit (MRK) is my way of giving back to the community for giving so much to me. It's not just a city, it's a whole modular infrastructure kit. If you see infrastructure in Los Injurus, it's there and it's modular and it's waiting like a pile of Lego's we had as kids, there for you to imagine something, and put it together to share later on when it's done enough to use, so we can all bend a car into a new shape never before thought possible A city, a miles long highway, maybe a fancy subway system, a road roller-coaster, or a piano torture map! It's all up to you, and it is my thank-you to the community. For questions, comments, or general support for the MRK kit, please post in the Los Injurus discussion thread for now (and not here). Stay healthy and kill some pianos for me guys!
