whats the best way to do a Groundhog Day?

I want two cars to crash into each other. After the crash, I want "reset" the situation and have them run into the same exact crash again. and repeat. and repeat (i would use different camera angles each time to record different views of the same event)

two ways i though of:
1) Create a scenario, have two AI controlled cars following decal roads that intersect. After the crash, just reset the scenario. not ideal for various reasons

2) use free-roam, place the two vehicles where i want them, save the setup in map editor, and then using some magic (lua script?) make both vehicles respawn and re-enable AI control simultaneously.

I know enough to go into existing .prefab and .lua and .jason files to modify maps and vehicles and UI apps for my entertainment, so i'm not a novice, but still just a hack really. I just wanted to see if anyone has already thought of the easiest way to do this before i spin my wheels... Thanks!

 

If you're just trying to get multiple camera angles, use the replay app. If it doesn't glitch, you can replay it in any angle and view the same crash.
