Wheel doesnt stay on full lock

So essentially when i dont have power steering i can reach full lock but there is a force centering the wheel. it starts at around 80% lock and if i let go at 100% it turns towards the center and stops at around 80%. i though hm maybe the wheels are touching the chassie and thats why they are forcing less lock but i enabled power steering and the problem is gone. i wont drive with power steering tho as it ruins the feel or the car when driving old/drift cars. Any suggestions? or is this normal
