The windshield (North American English) or windscreen (Commonwealth English) of an aircraft, car, bus, motorbike, truck, train, boat or streetcar is the front window, which provides visibility while protecting occupants from the elements. Modern windshields are generally made of laminated safety glass, a type of treated glass, which consists of, typically, two curved sheets of glass with a plastic layer laminated between them for safety, and bonded into the window frame.

in a real car, the front glass is laminated, meaning it has 2 panels of glass with a stretchy rubbery material between them. this prevents large shards of glass from falling into the car.

beamNG cars follow this, but unlike real life, making things tear is a lot harder, so you're not going to ever see holes punched through.

also, congrats on thread number 7000 :p

    This is actually realistic.
The windshield has a thin plastic layer of plastic in the middle, which means most of the glass will stick to that instead of shatter all over the place.
    It's a safety thing.

Edit: Whoops, the two above me were quicker than me but I'll leave this up anyway.
