I always am disappointed when a mod doesn't have traffic configs. Its is a small thing that adds a lot. The only mods I can think of that has traffic configs is the Vertex, and the Barstow IV but that's paid. What other mods have traffic configs? Now traffic vehicles are a piece of cake to make, currently working on a pack of them. All you have to do is find a base game vehicle that best fits it, than retexture your car to use shared materials, edit the Jbeam and your done! Here is an example I made, the Miramar sedan! Did the facelift and pre - facelift, and it has a rare chance to spawn into the traffic. Made the custom jbeam to match the normal Miramar, tested crash model, made the suspension softer, and the car weaker. Took me two days! Come on mod creators!
I agree, the lack of traffic even in paid mods is wasting me.. The variety of cars in traffic is great, the traffic becomes more lively, and it is also useful for content makers, why would they use full-fledged cars for movies, loading the PC if there are simplified models?
Funny enough, I offered to do Traffic Configs for the AW Twagon for free, but the developer said no. They are not hard to make.
it takes time that could be spent elsewhere doing more fun stuff than spending hours making a low detail version of your mod, and most lore friendly car mods were made before simplified traffic existed, and iirc simplfied traffic stuff is still subject to change (the devs already broke it all once) so a bnch of modders are just waiting a while
It should be staying pretty much the same from now on, specifics of the vehicles may still change or be tweaked as the game improves etc but overall the structure and basic setup of everything shouldn't need to drastically change and be reworked again and there's no plans to
Bro making a mod in general can be boring. Also, if your paid mod cant be bothered to do that, then theres a problem. A free mod without it is different. They are hella easy to make, theres no excuse to not do it unless its a free mod.
Basically, simplified version is added when the mod is finished or almost finished, or after several updates. Gavril Vertex, Ford Crown Victoria is a good example. To say that it is boring to do this... is quite difficult, because everyone has their own views and opinions. --- Post updated --- Just because it's easy doesn't mean every mod should have a simplified version. Yes, it's a bit disappointing, but it's the author's decision, which may change over time. The fact that you decided to do this is cool and unique in its own way.
no, making a mod is fun, spending hours making a properly simplified version with its own jbeam and custom low detail model is not fun, time consuming, and boring, especially since most modders i know never play with traffic
You have to do no modeling work besides using the shared textures. And using a decimate modifier on the interior. It is not a custom jbeam, you just use the default platform, then pit the right suspension. The suspension is already premade, you just need to change the slot. All I am saying, is they are not very hard to do. Tops, maybe 2 - 3 hours of work. If its a free mod, its the authors choice. Paid, if the author wont include it its kinda dumb. Paid mods should include all the stuff a devs car would, unless its unfit for the ai to handle.
I think it would be better if this discussion ends and everyone sticks to their own opinion. I think no one wants extra problems for themselves.
