Why is the Roamer still grouped with the D series in the menu?

I don't understand why the D series and Roamer are still grouped under the same vehicle in the vehicle selection menu. When customising the roamer, it just makes everything more complicated seeing "D Series-" or "Roamer-" in front of every part. I can see why it was originally done this way, since they both use the same chassis, and was probably done to save some time during development, but at this point it just seems silly to me to keep them grouped together.

Not to mention, when filtering cars by type, they are completely different classes, one being a pickup, and the other an SUV, and their costs are probably way different.

You answered your own question, they are that way because they are the same chassis and arguably pretty much the same vehicle. A lot of people use that line of thinking when reviewing real cars that share a chassis; they may be slight different weight wise and have different personal accouterments (tilt wheel, electric seats, cup holders, etc.), but all the important bits are identical.

That's not to say that I think they should be grouped, as it leaves the roamer a bit more hidden than other vehicles in game, but the devs have left it that way for the reason above; they're pretty much the same car.

I disagree that they are basically the same vehicle. Even though they share the same chassis, they are still so fundamentally different. The Roamer is a light duty SUV, which can seat 5, has room for some cargo, and can tow maybe a small fishing boat or camper. The D series on the other hand, is a light duty truck which can seat three if you're lucky, can carry a fair amount of cargo or other goods that you wouldn't put in the back of an SUV, and can still tow a small boat or camper. You can't use them interchangeably. You couldn't load up the roamer with 1500 lbs of dirt or landscaping material, just like you couldn't fit 5 people into the D series.

You wouldn't go into a Gavril dealership, ask for a Roamer, only to find out they are out of stock, but end up purchasing a D 15 because they are the same car.

Not to mention they handle so differently thanks to the roamer's top heavy, unibody construction. If you were to drive the Roamer, then immediately hop into a D Series, they wouldn't feel like the same vehicle at all. Also, we only have the D15 at the moment. What if in the future we get D25 or D35 variants? those will only differentiate the D Series from the roamer further by adding new chassis and drivetrains.

The best real world example I can think of is the Toyota Sienna/Toyota Camry. The sienna is built on the camry platform, but yet they are still entirely different cars, each marketed to a different demographic with different purposed and prices. While the chassis aren't 100% similar in the sienna/camry, I still think it exemplifies how the D Series and Roamer are different cars.

I agree with xboxkyle735. How come they don't split these bad boys up when no other developer vehicle is combined? I found many differences including:
    front fascia
    hood shape
    rims
    i think mirrors
AND the fact that they are completely different in shape, and the D-Series does NOT have a sheriff skin.

They're together because they share so many parts. They have the same chassis, suspension, engine, and wheels. If I separated them, there would be tons of redundant .jbeams, which would make managing tire and suspension tweaks even more of a headache. There aren't any other vehicles that share a chassis like the D15 and Roamer do, so that's why they're the only cars grouped together.

Also, there's the added bonus of being able to use D15 wheels on the Roamer and vice versa.

Alright, now I agree with you. I'm pretty shocked that the owner of the game replied, but OK! I still think they should be split up OR the Roamer can be called the D-Series SUV or something. I know that is probably dumb of me, but really. There is no other vehicle in the game that does this. So... I don't even know. I've only had BeamNG since like July and I don't really get the "scientific" car stuff. So that is probably why I don't know.
