Why is the thumbnail generator so bad?

I can understand why it takes a while, having to load the configs, but having to resize the window every single time it takes one is aggravating. It would also be nice if you could pick configs to get thumbnails of so it doesn't have to take them all just to get a few, at least that's something I haven't found if it's an option.

 

there is a checkbox in the save/load tab that you can uncheck but in my experience it stays on so you will have to click it every time before saving

 

I'm talking about the one in the showroom. I don't like that one in the configs section either, I wish it would remember if someone disables it.

The fact you STILL can't change the camera offset properly after it being in the game for like 4 years or more now should be alarming. There's an offset editor but it doesn't work at all.

And it still decides to make the Piccolina's thumbnails even though you selected only your vehicle. Makes no sense at all.

 

I don't know why you guys have such big issues with the thumbnail generator. Sure it taking a picture of every config is annoying, but it always chooses the right car and doesn't crash for me.
Examples:

 

Perhaps the thumbnails and stats were manually created? I have no idea why they would do that when they have automatic tools they could fix and use.

I hope that those features are broken by mistake and not intentionally broken so that modders have a harder time copying the official "artstyle". That would be really, really stupid and petty to do.

 

Considering that it works perfectly for some people including me, I very much doubt that they are trying to prevent people from copying their art style. Doesn't really seem like something that they would be worried about and even more unlikely they would intentionally break a tool rather than just not implement it. I don't think the devs would ever try something like that, I think they are just very focused on pushing playable content as it keeps most people happy.

 

the thumbnail generator sorta works for me but it doesn't wait for the license plates to render so now I have a few vehicles with blank license plates in the thumbnail. maybe allow us to iterate each vehicle config separately or even select exactly which configuration we want to take a thumbnail for.
