So recently I have been hoping this SUV will sell in North America but I did some research and it looks like its pickup counterpart the Hilux was replaced by the Tacoma in 1995. Will this SUV (by any chance) ever reach the North American markets when the Hilux got replaced by the Tacoma in 1995? This SUV (especially this trim) looks sporty enough for the North American roads to be honest.

Btw this SUV is called Fortuner. Its one of the most poplar SUVs in Southeast Asia and Australia. If it will reach North America, I would say it would slot in between the Venza and the Highlander

    I don't think it will.
America already has the 4runner as a hilux-platform SUV which they will probably replace soon with something else on taco architecture. The fortuner's already exclusive to africa and australasia, and the europe-australia market also gets the landcruiser prado.
to be honest, i don't see any reason why they would change the system they've got going, as america prefers larger vehicles, and doesn't require the robustness in their smaller offerings, meaning the highlander/kluger/XU chassis is fine for them.
I also think it doesn't look tonka-truck-ish enough for the american market imo, most people there seem to get things because they look "intimidating" on the road.
