Thanks for the feedback and the effort to put the issues in a video. Writing to let you know that fixes will be in the next release for: - Mesh roads Shift duplication of nodes is working now - Shape Editor will auto open the selected mesh in the scene, this is a preference, it can be toggled off if needed. For now you can also select a mesh and go to Inspector, pressing the "Open in shape editor" button will open it. Other issues: - Asset Browser single view, I guess you're referring to an Explorer way of viewing the assets, at the moment we only have this view mode, we might consider an Explorer-like mode in the future
Bug or my incompetence? Adding a new terrain material imported from an another map scrambles the original materials. Here's mud from East Coast, adding it as a new layer: Mud overrides all asphalt. Same happened in ETK Center with imported dirt; asphalt turned to mud, grass to wet asphalt, rock_cliff to grass etc. Adding new layer works without issues in the old editor.
Same thing is happening to me, idk if I'm doing something wrong or what. It's really annoying. I haven't tried in old editor so I'll check that.
Actually we were working on that specific bug these days , it will be fixed in the next release, we are also tidying up all the terrain material editing. It is probably better to use the old editor for that for now, if issues arise in the new one.
Hi! The new editor doesn't seem to work very well for me. I know it's still in development, but whenever I import a new terrain, the game crashes after 30 seconds (does load the terrain though). Meaning that I can't even get to the point of editing anything. I am really not sure what the issue is, however I do know that the old editor worked fine for me. I'll edit this post if I manage to figure out what is the problem. Also, on a side note, the objects menu is a bit strange, it opens and collapses lists when you click on them in a strange way- but relative to the crashes, it's really not a big deal EDIT: Sent you guys a bunch of error reports through the game crash report thing, I tend to believe it has to do with the graphics card because task manager saw a sharp peak at the GPU at the exact second of the crash, but IDK. I can get into more details if necessary- computer specs, exact files being used, etc... Hope you can figure something out, as the current editor is pretty much unusable for me. EDIT EDIT: Seems that I've found a workaround by importing via the old editor and then going back to the new. So I can keep going. Still, if you can fix it it'll be great.

I am trying to understand if it is a bug or user experience/imgui issue. Yes, the terrain import was always a problem, we are trying to refactor and fix that process, meanwhile for any problem, try to fallback to old editor while we're nailing down the new editor issues. Thank you for understanding.
How do you bring in objects from other maps in the new editor? Back in the old editor you were able to by just selecting a different map in the tree on the right. But with the new asset browser it seems to lock you to your current level. eg: On the old editor I can see the gm_twist_loop from gridmap but I couldnt find this in the new browser.
It is not possible at the moment, because the asset browser is doing asset thumbnail caching and that would mean a lot if we were to display all the level folders, but we will add a way in the future to navigate the other folders in search for assets.
From the Dev Blog: Added new preferences system and Preferences window (will reset all user editor preferences on first run) Added an autosave level system, found in Preferences->Files I don't see any of that. How do I turn the autosave OFF?
It should be in the Preferences window, in the Files section, Autosave. Can you post a screenshot of your Preferences window ?
Sorry, I was blind. It's in Edit > Editor Preferences, and it's OFF by default. The terrain painter has a tendency to go haywire on steep ridges and the terrain former can get jammed on full auto when click-and-sweeping. I don't want to (auto)save anything before I have checked that everything is tip top. That why I asked.
Ok, if you can, you could specify some reproduction steps for the terrain height painter issue of auto-locking, maybe we can reproduce it and fix it, thanks.
Usually happens when clicking fast while smoothing or contouring roads. I'll try with another mouse and report if it continues.
I'm having trouble adding Ground Plane to my map. When I add one I am unable to use gizmo on it, also terrain editor tools don't work on it. The circle just goes behind the Ground Panel so I can't shape or paint the ground. Also I can't find the import height map option. I'm probably doing something wrong, it would be great if someone points me in the right direction.
You might want to start with a copy of GridMap level and go from there, or a smallgrid level copy. There are some issues with terrain block selection editing. The import terrain is the first button in the terrain editor toolbar.
Thank you. I should have added terrain block and not ground plane. I still can't paint it though, I get different shades of no texture. Same for the water block, layers of black no textures floating around.
Save and restart the map after creating water or terrain. It'll bring texture to water and editing the terrain won't crash the game instantly. Before using the painter you may have to Add layers (grass, sand etc) and Properties in the Terrain Material Editor.
