Hello everyone! I have finally started working a project that has been on my mind for quite a while: Remastering the "Italy" map from the game World Racing 2 in Beamng. I loved this game when I grew up and especially this map. Now there is Beamng, which is the wet dream of my 14 year old version from back then and thats why I want to combine these two things I want to do this in a relaxed manner in my free time, to practice my 3D and game making skills. That means not just converting over the old map but actually making new models and adding more detail than the original. Current WIP is: I managed to get the terrain over to Beamng. I first used a height map to convert it to the Beamng Terrain but because of bad results, I used the "Align with mesh" tool to wrap it over the original terrain file from World Racing 2. From now on, everything else will be created from scratch. Here are a few screenshots, with the old objects and buildings in there. But they are just there for reference Thank you to the amazing team behind Beamng, it is just amazing what you have done. The game is fantastic and the map editor so easy to use. Also a big thanks to Spealer on Youtube, for the great Tutorials to get started.
After some time I finally got backt to the project and started learning the workflow of making models for the map! Its not much but here is the first object done for the new map
good start so far ^^ I'm curious where this goes Redoing everything from scratch sounds like a lot of work. btw, if you have any question feel free to ask ^^
This is a very detailed bucket, it can affect performance, I think you need to focus on large objects, split the map for easier work, and slowly add more and smaller details until you are personally satisfied.
