Would the conversion be possible?

    http://www.mods-download.com/farming-simulator-2013-mods/polski-fiat-126p-v-1-0/

It says it has everything working, so probably works nice, but I want it in BeamNG. I found a thread about the car itself but it is cancelled and long dead (http://www.beamng.com/threads/fiat-126p.6388/).
I'm sure a lot of people would love it and me the most since I own this car and would love to drive it around here before getting behing the real wheel.

Sadly I have never made a mod, I just fiddle around with files of others mods, so I'm hardly qualified to do it. The possibility to convert would be really good, because creating this all from scratch would be hell.

There is no way to convert mods from other games, no. BeamNG uses a very different and much more complex system than any other game, its not just importing a mesh and setting some values. Technically you could potentially get the mesh files and go from there to build your own jbeam but thats no different from getting the mesh from anywhere else. Its also likely a stolen model, not recommended to use.

What do you mean conversion from other games mods is not possible? Rig of Rods for example. there surely is something else. And what I mean by conversion is taking the model of the car and giving it necessary stuff to work in BeamNG. I think modelling is the hardest part in creating mods. I thought it could be used in easing the job to be done. Think about it, it has full body shell and interior.

That car can be converted to beamng for sure, you would just have to tweak the model a little and then create a proper jbeam for it. IMHO the jbeam is the hardest part if creating it from scratch but if you skin the car to an existing jbeam and modify the jbeam to fit the car it would be easier but hen your getting into Russian mod territory...

The jbeam is a file opened with Notepad++? because from modding i cannot understand blender at all.

Rigs Of Rods was the precursor to BeamNG, co developed by TDev, the main physics engineer for BeamNG. So yes, things can be converted from RoR, because it uses the same softbody node/beam system, was made by the same people, and shares a lot of the same ideas, vehicle creation techniques, and a very very similar file format.

And yes, if you can get the mesh files you can technically "convert" any vehicle from any game, but its not really converting if you have to 100% redo everything relating to physics and everything else now is it? Engine settings, handling, animations, ect. will all not transfer over. As far as im concerned this is not a conversion, but simply ripping a model from someone else and using it to make a mod in BeamNG.

And no, modeling is BY FAR the easiest part of making a mod. Physics and jbeam work is incredibly difficult and very, very time consuming, especially when you add all the features that people expect. (check out the content created by beamng section, youll notice they had tons of models made right from the beginning and still havnt gotten all of them in game, this is why) My recent buggy took me only a week or two to model, and yet it took me 4-5 months to create the jbeam physics model, and its still not perfect. Having an already made mesh means nothing, you can get meshes for any vehicle ever all over the internet. Most of which are illegally ripped from AAA titles however and shouldnt be used. There are thousands upon thousands of people that could make a model like that no problem and hardly anyone that could make a proper jBeam for it. the model is really not the problem with making/converting mods.

Week ot two? 4-5 MONTHS?! I'm now seriously demotivated. Damn. I would like to drive it in game but now I'm certain I can't do it myself. And now I'm absolutely sure it will never be done. Especially because I won't do it and nobody will do it for some random on internet who wanted to have it in game. RIP Fiat 126p for BeamNG, you will be missed.

And it has similiar construction to Fiat 500 which was in progress but the thread died... We could have used the suspension and all drivetrain from this mod and just do moddeling and bending physics, but we kinda can't now...

    RIP any hope

Theres no reason you couldnt do it. The wiki is incredible extensive, and there are hundreds of posts with more help about vehicle creation, as well as a bunch of helpful tools and programs. We all started somewhere! Take the hatchs jBeam, modify it to fit correctly, add the fiat mesh, ect. It takes a long time and a lot of work and it may not be perfect, but its fun and youll learn a lot. You wont be able to release it due to copywrite and the model not being yours but youll still have it for yourself and it would be a good project to learn.

It could released on the forums though, and even on the repository when the badges get removed and the original author gives permission (which probably won't happen though).

It's mostly about my self motivation. I'm not sure I will survive to the end. And if I can't release it because it's someone elses model, then it would be easier to do it from scratch. And it would be really fun and motivating if i made it cooperating with someone, but i have no friends who play this game... Maybe someone here? Keen to help horribly inexperienced random on internet?

you could do it eventually, just learn little by little, start by messing with the jbeam files of official vehicles like the fullsize. It will take a month or so to learn the basics but once you learn the basics it'll become like a bag of legos (each block of code is like a Lego piece, you put it together similar to how you would build something using Lego blocks, Hope that makes sense ) Once you get the basics of jbeam all will become easy and fun, the only hard part will be the amount of time it takes to complete a full jbeam, I know jbeam quite well, the thing that stops me from making many more mods that I want to make isn't ignorance but time itself.

I think I could be able eventually to do it, but I have a bad feeling school might be really interrupting in mod creation. And since school is way more important it seems I wouldn't have time for it :/
