The title says it, US and Japanese cars built in 1973-1983 only, you can express your opinions about cars from this era.
Depends on which one. I wouldn't daily a pacer. (For obvious reasons) A late 70s Datsun would be great. A muscle car... eh... Foxbodies can be great tuned, but not really that much base. I would probably opt for Japanese in this era instead of an American car.
From the technical standpoint, the Pacer was a good car. Reliable AMC I6, relatively easy entry, good visibility. Also, Datsuns were even less base than any malaise muscle, apart from the Z-cars, which cost as much as a Cadillac Eldorado or a Rover 3500.
Like I know what the cars were like in that era... I'd drive 'em because they look presentable, and seem to be useful cars for what they are.
Skoda does that pretty good. They make simple, but useful cars. I already like the Favorit, so I have no problem with Skodas, nor Honda.
Yes, conditionally. It has to be one where the catalyst is already hosed beyond repair, so I can replace it with a better one as soon as I get the car, without getting my door kicked in by an EPA goon squad.
Malaise era vehicles are the best. Nowadays they can mostly fly under the "emissions" radar and you can do just about anything with them. You want to throw a straight-piped Chevy SB into your Buick sedan? Go ahead! There's a few in particular I would absolutely love to own: 1. AMC Eagle. Off-road wagon? Yes please! 2. 1974 Ford Country Squire. I like wagons. 3. 1983 Dodge Rampage. I actually found one of these nearby were I live, but it was too far gone. 4. 1984 Ford Mustang SVO. Turbo four-banger mustang is best mustang. 5. 1980 Jeep Wagoneer. These are just cool.
