Xbox controller works in debug mode but wont drive the car!

Hi. So i recently bought a controller for this game, however i have followed someones instructions but it did not work. I tried going in to debug mode to see if it registered it, and it did. But the car still would not drive. Any help?

 

Do you get an engine revving noise? If so, just cycle through the transmission modes with Q until you get to your mode of choice. Sometimes gamepads bork the transmission, I don't know why.

 

I have just tested it, but it didnt work. Any other ideas?

 

What type of controller is it? Is it an official xbox 360 controller or an offbrand model? If so, which one?

 

It is an official Xbox controller.

 

hopping in and out of the editor can cause the controller to stop responding, it happens to me from time to time, Usually closing and restarting the game fixes it for me.

 

I have restarted the game many times, but it has not helped.

 

What version of windows?

If you have Win 8 (maybe 7 as well), go to 'Devices and Printers' you should see the xbox controller listed there, you can try configuring it. If it does not show up then Windows does not recognize the controller.

 

It is there but there is nothing to configure. There is only calibrate and test, and testing works fine.

 

Well, try it in a different game so you can tell if it's a Windows/hardware problem and not Drive.

 

In debug mode ,in the game, it shows that everything is working, but the car is not driving. But i will try still try another game.

 

did you edit any of the input map files? That's the only thing I can think of that might cause this. it may be a good idea to run the updater and force an update, just to be sure.

 

I just played some Just Cause 2 and the controller worked. Yes i did edit the input map files so I will try to force update now.

One question. How do i force update :3

 

Run update.exe , it will likely say there are no updates. The next time you run it you can choose to force the update.

 

Does update.exe.old work?

You need to rename update.exe.old to 'update.exe'

I am going to bed. It is really late in Denmark. But when i am asleep feel free to reply to this thread, so i can try all the solutions everybody has tomorrow.

 

It does the same thing for me with my Xbox 360 Wireless Wheel. It is the official wheel, and it is an actual wheel with pedals, not that weird circle thing that is like the Wii-wheel controller. It registers my movements in the debug menus but it will not move the car.

 

Is there still no one who knows how to fix it? I really hoped i could get to play with my controller soon :/

I have a PS3 controller connected via DS3 tool. I am facing the same problems :/
