So I went to the flea market in Nice and there was a man called Gaetan Masson or something, he had a stall with hundreds of 1:43s, all 10€/piece. That looked like a scaled down used car market in Lithuania, which houses tons of used and abused cars from all walks of life. The bad part was that they were really abused - many had damages like broken mirrors and spoilers (someone even managed to break a mirror off a Schabak Escort - which, to remind you, is a part of a full metal door), some had bubbling paint (most likely due to improper storage conditions) and almost all were really dirty - probably covered in tree sap and then mold. Large linden trees grow in the marketplace, this guy is there every week and he never washes his stock, only wipes them with some rag which only makes it worse. I didn't take any pictures of his inventory (I don't even know if it's allowed - my father wanted to take a picture of some Russian Empire document and the seller said no), but there were mainly Universal Hobbies, Bburago, Schabak, Solido and older Norev cars. I really recommend visiting his stall, which can be done at weekly flea markets in Nice (Tuesday) and Cannes (I forgot when). Even if you don't find anything, it will be a great experience. He also has an Ebay marketplace, although I couldn't find any of his 10€ stock there. He also has other, non-car models and toys for sale.
After examining numerous cars, I chose this Minichamps C220. It was the only Minichamps, the only high-end scale model and one of the few completely undamaged models on his stall. How did it end up there, among broken toys? As I already said, it was pristine (sadly, the mirror broke during transportation, but I will glue it back soon), but completely filthy.
Here's it after a good wash:
I'll post more pictures when I put it back together. Do you think this was a good deal - a perfect condition, biohazard Minichamps without a box for 10€?
I bought this in May, is it the same casting:
Yes, same casting. The whole Triple 9 lineup is made of alternate liveries for former IXO/PRX models:
i only collect hotwheels lol
Kings of Crunch...
i got a hotwheels mclaren senna today!
July Limited Vintages. A couple of Crowns, two Bluebirds, a pair of Evo IVs and a Mazda 787B.
Excuse the sizes of the pictures, I'm a little rusty on using an actual camera and the raw formats it comes with.
Cheap, 1:36 (?) Pagani Huayra by Welly...
Work trip got cut very short due to stupid reasons, but this is not my lawyer or facebook so I'll just get to the stuff I already wasted my money on
(Chrome interior variation of the HW50, hope to find the black interior variation some day)
A lot of the stores I stopped in had stock just as bad as where I'm from this time, lack of loss prevention included. One of the walmarts was littered with discarded HW packages, 5 packs with a car flatout missing, and M2 machines which were obviously opened and taped back shut after some issue, which happens a lot to my local Walmarts. The difference this time was one M2 Machine was actually taken apart and put back on the shelf...
A lot of the Walmarts had a ton of those four Back Rally cars and many Targets had a ton of Car Culture Shilouettes and BRE Datsun 510 team transports. That's about all that anything had in stock though.
Everything from here on was ordered online
The paint on these is certainly beautiful, but the plastic bases make them feel so cheap... It's like mattel doesn't know if these are for kids or collectors, so they added beautiful paint for kids to scratch and unecessary electronics and plastic bases for collectors to have issues with.
5 pack I wanted because I've given up finding things I actually want in brick and mortar stores, 2 HW 50th favs so now I only need the lil red express truck. Amazon was still charging MSRP, so why not.
Three sets that local stores never got, again for around MSRP. My first ZAMACs aside from the mainline custom firebird and 50th fav drag bus. Also ordered the full satin and gold set because I'm too lazy for that wild goose hunt. Haven't recieved that but I'm sure everyone here knows what it is.
Walmart museum truck. Super plasticy, but it is such a visually impressive release and card, real riders included for only $1.90. Can't have it all. Great packaging from the spark shop too.
Another ebay order. I love buying these random lots from collection liquidations, they are all little surprise budles and so far all 3 I've bought have been from sellers who took care of the collection. A lot of this is out of the scope of what I try to collect, but there's some cool stuff, including my first blue card. The Miata and Focus are off to the side because I have those releases, not sure if they are card variations though. The pair of HW race team chevy trucks actually have a variation on those sponsors and very slight card variation. I was hoping to see more post 2002 cars though. Being the third ebay purchase like this, my 1997-2000 collection is a fair size now, but 2000-2016 is still lacking. Those 16 years include some weird design fads which I find nostalgic and their muscle car era, so hopefully I can work on that gap someday.
*Shoutout to that chrome Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile*
For anyone wondering, I'm being picky about variations because I want an excuse to keep 20 year old releases out of my "duplicates to give away" pile (most of that comes from family who know I collect 1/64th scale stuff but don't know anything about it and get me weird things I don't want)
And here is the problematic one. Ordered a 6 car F&F set (definetly listed as such in the title, description, pictures, reflected on that in the price, etc...) but this was the only one that shipped... I contacted Amazon about it, waiting to hear back. First time having a problem with an online order other than shipping delays. I love this car though, hopefully they don't try to do anything scummy with the return because I want to keep that car but I also don't want to have paid for a 6 car set to only get the one...
Spoiler: Bonus round
Not 1/64th diecast, but mini car related.
Not a Speed Champions set, but this thing was too beautiful to resist.
Cheapest beadlocks I could find for my SCX10. Also got the cheapest full metal driveshafts that had decent reviews, a VW bug shell for my Axial Exo, and a Ford Stepside shell for my Stampede (which at this point is so heavily modified that even people who know Traxxas' lineup often mistake it for an E-Revo)
Why are they called "Vintage?" Some of these cars aren't even vintage lol...

I'm not a big fan of the mismatched wheels on that white Camaro, almost looks like an error car tbh.
Sadly, my local Walmarts haven't received any Car Culture in a long time aside from Team Transport, probably due to Mattel's poor distribution. At one of the two local Walmarts I usually visit, their mainline car selection is ENTIRELY C case. Also, is it just me or why does it seem like all the employees and scalpers get all the good stuff? I've almost never seen anything on Walmart's pegs except for fantasy cars, and Matchbox's selection suffers from the same problem too. Only times I find the good stuff are when Walmart does a restocking of the cars.
Vintage; because they are considered to be quality classic cars.
The Limited Vintage Neo line has cars all the way up into the nineties - with cars considered to be modern classics, Hence the ‘Neo’ (or ‘new’).
Just saw this video on YouTube. This shows why Walmart needs to install security cameras in their diecast aisles to make sure scalpers/thieves don't tamper with the cars. I would love to get my hands on a F&F five-pack, as long as it hasn't been tampered with by scalpers/thieves, but I think it would be hard to find an original, legit F&F five-pack, because the car that the thieves like to target the most is the '61 Impala. Luckily I live in New England, because scalping isn't common where I live.
I got the F&F 5 pack yesterday.
Got mine on Amazon, free shipping and paid MSRP.
I have that Silver Evo on it's way. Tempted to order one of the gold Crowns. I promised my mum that I would gift her some money over next week though.
You should be fine, you can typically find some TLVs still available almost a month after they’ve been released, and the more ‘normal’ cars like the Toyopet Crown don’t really sell all that quickly.
But, if you can, you should absolutely get one of the Crowns.
Back in the south, another Walmart haul. Saw a collector there who warned me that the seemingly unopened mystery series actually was opened, he was right. Weird that it was secretly opened, I guess it was an employee trying to hide the fact that it was opened before being shelved. Waiting to open the mystery stuff but there's everything the scalpers didn't want along with the Viper and NSX chase from series 2 (one had a lot of series 2 stuff in it). Sadly missing the not-chase Oldsmobile Vista Cruise-Bruiser along with the Mustang, Datsun, and VW. Got the gold Mazda. Collector man had like 5 boxes of the F&F, one was damaged so he took out the Grand National, appologized for doing that, then gave me the rest. He was genuinely surprised that I only took one of each, so maybe he was one of those weird collectors that just likes duplicates opposed to a scalper.
So yeah, 3 chase pieces from stuff that was sorted through already. That's why I always look.
Didn't know that the white Lego Porsche existed, it's by far my favorite SC so it's nice to see the recolor. I saw a bunch of recolors on a website a few months ago but assumed they were fake. The white Porsche was one, so now I'm wondering if we will see more recolors.
Just now got a refund for that F&F set that I never recieved. Get to keep the Skyline I got too. Good, that thing is beautiful. Well, I got Amazon to agree to a refund. Hopefully I'll recieve the correct ammount back, never had to deal with anything like this and I had some issues with emailing in my complaints so I'm still a bit worried still.
Tomica Limted Vintage.
