Zedd Mountain First map just to get the hang of using the editor. Found out my problem with getting spiky pyramids when editing was that I had a small editing circle and everything else on high. The map is set in a valley under the shadow of a large beast, Zedd Mountain. So far it includes a river, temporary boundaries, 2 lakes; Crescent and Clarity, Zedd Mountain, and a terrible spawn point. Update Over the weekend I worked a little and created a massive mountain, started worked on smoothing out the terrain, and made the map more realistic. Update #2 Increase the max height of Zedd Mountain, it was around 800 feet, now it's 1,500. I plan on going higher. I want to release a bare-bones beta. The reason I'm doing this, I want all of you to screen shot a part of the map and tell me what you want there. This way the map will be based on everyone's ideas. Also, if you find issues-with the terrain, texture, or anything else-please tell me. There were problems while trying to upload, will be trying again Monday May 5th Plans Roads A Town Vegetation Trials course Off Road tracks Extending the boundaries that I've set up Day and night (I need help on that part) etc... Thanks to noah1897 and his generous tip, I now have a lake system. Terrain Texture Black Mountain Scenery River and Lake system I am releasing the beta as a "pick-a-spot" type of thing. I want all of you to pick a good spot on the map, take a screenshot, post it here, and tell me what you want there. It can be a natural feature, a track, an arena, a town (Just make it reasonable). Beta to be released tonight, the internet doesn't like me.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) For lakes and rivers you can add a water block within the editor and set it's depth, width, and height. Just go to Library>level>Environment>water block.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) Thank you so much! Do you know how to make mud thick, and also, that fog is really annoying, how do I get rid of it?
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) I've never messed with the mud, and I've never seen any fog. Sorry
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) Thanks anyways man, if you know anyone who does know their mud and fog magic than send them over. Until then I'm just going to sit here poking at my map with a stick telling it to work.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) these two threads may help you FOR creating terrains here is funadors terrain creating guide (its a good one) http://www.beamng.com/threads/2764-...in-for-Beam-NG-(in-depth-guide-with-pictures) for creating objects with textures, i dont know if you want to but heres an easy tutorial just in case http://www.beamng.com/threads/5071-...G-with-working-collision-textures-(for-noobs)
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) Your fog value is actually located under your level info object... I'm not on my PC at the moment so i cant post a screenshot, but if you look hard enough you should be able to find it. if you cant find it by the time I wake up in a few hours, ill post a screenshot.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Need a wee bit of help) I did try yesterday to raise the whole map, it worked, but the spawn points still spawned the car in the same place even though I moved that up as well. Thank you guys for helpng out, I'm about 45% done with the map, and all these tips should help me get to around 70-80% done. I do plan on making a massive mountain in the corner of the map, if that's what you guys want. - - - Updated - - - I will be editing the map more tonight, if anyone has any suggestions or tips, than shoot. I still need to know how to make a working dirt track, and I can't get the spawn to stop moving below the map everytime I get on. - - - Updated - - - I've come across some things that make a map turrible; invisible land, ghost ground, and blocky edges. I was hoping to get really far on this map tonight, but these things are ticking me off. Plus the spawn is underground and keeps moving back down there every time I move it.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Update as of Dec. 16) This is just sort of a bump and progress update. I took a huge break because of school and troubles with friends, but will be making my way back to creating. As for the progress, there is none, I would actually have to say that I've been heading backwards with this project. I moved all of the files into a new folder and am sorely regretting it, all the textures are gone, and the spawn went back to its original spot. I'll try and figure this all out, but I need a huge amount of help.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Update as of Dec. 16) I should be able to help you with the spawn and textures. Is the car spawning under the ground and goes back to it every time you load the map?
Re: GridMountain Bash (Update as of Dec. 16) Well, I had to move the map up due to fog issues, so I selected everything and moved it up until the fog was no longer noticeable. After doing this I spawned a car, and at this point it worked, the car spawned a foot above the ground. So, I saved and went on with my day, came back and the spawn had moved back to its original location.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Update as of Apr. 22nd) The spawn will reset to the same point every time the map is loaded unless you have a simgroup for player drop points. Look inside your .MIS file, see if it has something looking like this: new SimGroup(PlayerDropPoints) { canSave = "1"; canSaveDynamicFields = "1"; enabled = "1"; If not, try pasting that in your .MIS file above the spawn point.
Re: GridMountain Bash (Update as of Apr. 22nd) So, this isn't dead, I just took a huge leave to deal with life stuff. I took care oh some issues; the textures are back, the terrain no longer acts like concrete, and I redid a lot of other stuff. I'll be working on this over the weekend, but I also have to do some late homework.
