    About engine damage. Do you expect to add a option to disable them? Since sometime we just want to crush car :D

    Do you mean overheating, or damage that prevents the powered wheels from turning? The former might be able to be turned off, but the latter is a result of the node/beam structure working, and as such, is probably unable to be optional.

    A while back, tdev said you were still planning on releasing that blog post on what you've accomplished so far (a whole lot) and what you planned for the future within a few weeks.
    Is that still in the works?

    Engine thermal sim is coming along nicely, also accompanying it is a handy thing for exhaust. We define a chain of beams (seen in yellow) starting at the engine (the red node) and branching out to the tailpipe(s). When a link in the chain is broken, the exhaust emits from the break. This way we won't have magic mufflers emitting smoke as the car drives away :cool:

    Because I just used the engine damage to create the smoke, we don't have black diesel soot yet.

    I hope this also means different sounds for missing exhaust, but considering that everything in the game, regardless of engine type or exhaust status, has the same engine sound (except for the Covet), I doubt it.

    It'll be nice when it eventually happens though, because it means we'll be well on our way to being able to change custom sounds at the engine/tuning level rather than the car level (assuming that's not already possible).
