That is a good point, they should have locking difs. Maybe lsd on the back for the roamer...

there's no need for the front diff to be locked for a less extreme offroader like them. once the middle and back are locked, the only way to encounter diff-slip would be for both rear wheels and one of the front wheels to be up in the air, all at once, which would only ever be encountered in extreme rock-crawling situations. leaving it open helps with high-speed handling, as otherwise it puts a lot of stress on the steering rack when turning. Also, basically all factory 4WDs have open front diffs, for both these points, and the fact that it is simply cheaper.

Think I should make up a wish list of stuff I would like to see for the D Series. Saves clogging up the Update speculation thread.
    1. 4X4 side decals on the bed for the 4x4 models. Gotta advertise the fact you paid extra for the 4wd setup and willing to suffer with the fuel economy decrease.
    2. Some sort of sports decal package for the D15 Sport.
    3. A Suburban like body for the LWB chassis.
    4. Some sort of Pickup conversion for the Bronco esque chassis.
    5. Some sort of Ambulance uplift (maybe as a mod)
    6. Flatbed/flatdeck option that isn't the one for the Pig variant.
    7. As ManfredE3 mentioned, both pre and post facelifts.
    8. Stepside style bed.

I started attempting to resurrect AR162b's old D-Series mod (specifically the "Suburban" body, maybe the other bed styles if I get around to it) but the remastering of the whole truck has made it difficult. Despite my limited 3D skills, I was able to chop off the old front structure to fit with the new radiator support, and I rescaled the rear door openings to match the new crew doors (the old mod used the same rear doors on the Suburban body and the crew cab, so why not take advantage of the official crew cab?). Oh, and to boot, the rescaled body fits perfectly on the longbed (I initially mistakenly said extended) frame.

The most difficult part, of course, would be the J-Beam, considering the whole truck got remastered, and several internal component names have changed since the mod last worked some three or four years ago.

However, my biggest hope is that such a body style is implemented officially, which completely bypasses my crude skills.

The remaster also broke the Bandito (Bronco) mod, but that's been partially replaced with the new integrated "short" body. Hopefully a top is in the works.

This is where I rage at you not listing a pre-facelift. It would just need detuned engines + old mirrors, bumpers, and fascia (one of the current ones with different headlights could work).

Pre Face lift would most likely end up being a completely different body maybe even drive train (dating back to the seventies), yeah mostly a completely different generation. The D Series is definitely a late 80s design so an earlier model would require major modification to make sense.

Gabe said our D-Series was a facelift. Late 1980's/early 1990's Ford loved facelifts, the Econoline and F-Series both were just facelifts of older generations for ages. It isn't a stretch to do that with the D/H-Series.

The eigth and ninth gen F-Series were facelifts of the seventh gen, and the fourth gen Econoline was a facelift of the third gen. Which puts that F-Series in production from '79-'97 and the Econoline from '75-present.

Oh that makes sense. I was looking at the D series like the Chevrolet trucks.

I must say, when I first saw that this has a track version I thought it would be silly and unusable, but having driven it around the Automation track a couple of times I really like it.

I have some additions to the community wishlist.

A ramp truck would be a useful uplift. I assume it would need to be an open ramp with a single cab placed on one of the longer frames to avoid making yet another frame, the poor vehicle team is probably sick of this truck having so many frames. That being said, the enclosed trucks can get massive, as if a crew cab long bed isn't funny enough.

Some more engines would be great. At least a large displacement V8. As I mentioned in the update speculation thread, a big engine, set of axles off an HD truck, and oversized tires would be fun :)

Then some more general customizaton, notably a cowl hood and performance air intakes that stick through the hood. The D-Series doesn't even get a bug catcher like most RWD American cars in game.
