This is my old map formally known as "Road Land Island Place Map" The name was terrible so I changed it. Map DescriptionBendy Road is an island with a large, smooth 4 lane road that loops around the terrain and over some stupidly steep hills. There are a few built up areas and a tunnel too. It also has a few rough dirt tracks to punish vehicles. There are 8 scenarios to play. Large off road time trial forward Large off road time trial reverse Moonhawk hill climb Road time trial forward Road time trial reverse Small off road time trial forward small off road time trial reverse Truck abuse As the game has had a lot of updates since I made it years ago, it was in a bit of a mess. There were floating trees everywhere and one of the mesh models was just crashing the game for me. Sadly that mesh still refused to play nice even if I import it into a new level. Even exporting a fresh copy of the model from sketchup didn't work. So there is one section of roads without any street lights. Meh. Whats new?I totally removed the forest and remade it with my own trees I generated using forester. They are quite janky but hey. I added a few new buildings around the dirt tracks. Added the ability to use AI Traffic (the AI struggles with some of the ridiculous hills but it still adds to the experience) A new scenario " Moonhawk Hill Climb" As the name suggests you have to get the Moonhawk up the steepest hill on the map. its quite challenging but not impossible. As it has been many years since I have worked on a map, this might still be a broken mess if I have not done it properly. If you encounter any issues please comment below and I will take a look. I am not familiar with the new way the map structure works but everything seems to be working on my end. I hope you enjoy
Ok I finally found the texture issue and I also gave the dirt roads a bit of a smooth and fixed a few more floating trees and stuff. If you redownload the map you may need to clear the cache folder for the level. I also managed to reduce the file size a little too.
Ok I finally found the texture issue and I also gave the dirt roads a bit of a smooth and fixed a few more floating trees and stuff. If you redownloaded the map you may need to clear the cache folder for the level. Firsts time loading will be generating the cached files. Mine slows a little around 69% but then speeds up and loads ok.
I would like to, but that map is so big I can't upload it to the forum. I have tried to reduce the file size but the art folder has got out of control. The whole thing is just a complete mess. Most of the scenarios I made are now broken and it would take forever to organize. I have often thought about it, but when I look at the files I just don't know where to start. If I knew what I know now the map might not be so bloated and cumbersome to work on. I wasn't very good at organizing all the materials, and that is where fixing it up becomes a huge task. The version of generic city I have now has more stuff than the version roaming about in the wild, but making it current won't be on the cards anytime soon. It is not a quick fix. Just fixing Bendy Road took me days of head scratching and frustration. I only did it because I was curious how the map making process works these days. It hasn't got any easier.
Thanks for the heads up, i will have a poke about well I'm not sure at what point it crashes, as it loads for me. it will take a while on the first load as it generates the cached files.
if i clear the cache and make the level generate the files again it looks like it stops loading at 69% but I wait a while and it continues. how long are you waiting?
Oh, I haven't cleared cache yet. Let me try that. --- Post updated --- Nope, still crashes as 68%. When it get to the percent. it goes not responding forever.
it recovers once its finished doing what it does, wait a few minutes and it continues for me. The next time it loads it is a bit quicker as it wont have to generate a bunch of files. I just uploaded another version with a fix for the missing textures on the straw bails, I hope.
