It use to look odd like a eco car. Kinda like Legrand's Poor Cousin. But in 2019 gabe said it will be a Coupe. On February 21, 2019, Gabester revealed that the Wendover's body style had been changed from a four-door sedan to a two-door coupe.[6] He cited the absence of front-wheel-drive coupes as well as the LeGran and Ibishu Pessima already filling the "1980s front-wheel-drive sedan" niche as reasons for the change.[6] But the new coupe style does look lots like the Grand Marshal. Only more sexy and cooler
Wow... compared to what we've seen so far, that old render looks like absolute shit. The quality has certainly gone up since the old days
Yeah I think we can probably blame the og render for the whole LeGran sequel reputation it had. Granted the thing's been WIP for like 7 years now so it was probably bound to undergo some changes regardless. I suppose if they were to keep the orignial Wendover's spirit alive they could take its front and rear facias and put them on the LeGran and name it the Soliad xyz (don't really feel like coming up with a name, I already have a sizeable headache as is)
Well, well. It's still Tuesday, and take a look at this: Gotcha! It looks like another Tuesday has come and gone without a teaser (hence the unrelated video). That does tend to happen more often when an update is drawing near - but it's nothing more than a hopeful sign. I do kind of wonder if the Light runner mode will play a part in the wendover's release trailer - a FWD powerglow car is still something we're lacking, and the new '80s wedge would do nicely.
I don't know if you've done this on purpose, but you might want to turn off dark mode on your browser and see what your message looks like then
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be hidden text, but "!.-.-,'." amirite? also, hidden text should be like a small font size I guess
yeah! I completely agree. I mean, what person wouldn't make their invisible text so small it's impossible to read even when found? Watch the moderators disable white text because of what we're doing. : D
This might also mean some new engine upgrades for the LeGran, since the two will share engines. Of that, I can only approve. This, in turn, might lead to some upgrades for the LeGran Custom. Which, in turn, would require the '96 Pessima to be given additional content, in order to maintain the rivalry between the Street Tuned Pessima and Custom LeGran. (Or maybe not, since we've already had previously-similar pairs of custom variants, such as D15/Grand Marshal and Sunburst/'88 Pessima, drift apart.)
That was very much on purpose. Still, astonishing how much in that little clip could plausibly have related to current speculations - there's refueling, and a character that gets out of the car and walks somewhere, not to mention the whole '80s digidash aesthetic. I felt the need to leave a few breadcrumbs lying out to cover myself - just in case the trick backfired spectacularly on me and started trouble. I don't know if a Powerglow Wendover would necessarily need engine upgrades over the current setup of the Custom Legran. That thing is still surprisingly quick. What does make me wonder is the fact that last I checked, the '96 Pessima has had hillclimb parts for a long time now, yet nothing's been done on the performance end of things.
True, but the other Powerglow cars are things like SBR4s, Bolides, and turbo 200BXes. The only thing that's even close to being as slow as the LeGran is the Moonhawk, which is likely there more to meet bird-on-the-hood quota than because it fits the setting. Also, the Soliad is likely going to be heavier than the LeGran while sharing the same engines with the same power.
hey moderators could you please just clean up most of the garbage that happened on the last few pages
Alright gang lets split up when we look. On a note that I haven't seen anyone else touch upon, I'm curious to know what the badge for Soliad will look like. Looking at the one picture and one video doesn't give much about it other than the general shape of the outline appears to be a shield. Due to Soliad being owned by Buckell, and that the Wendover appears to be based off of Pontiac, it is my belief that the badge will carry some sort of resemblance to the Pontiac badge.
I've been pondering that myself. Looking at the video of the rotating wireframe, I think I see that there's a bar across the top of the shield, and I think 'Soliad' will be spelled out in that area, leaving the rest of the badge for some sort of stylized decoration. I don't see the badge repeated on the rear, just what looks like a keyhole for a locking trunk, so I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that they're going to do one of the four things Buick did in the late eighties & early nineties:
I mean, this thread was used for speculation and would be right now if this whole thing wasn't happening. Deleting the thread generally isn't a good idea, especially under these circumstances. Plus, even if you don't think it, there is more stuff to speculate, you just gotta look hard enough.
