So here's my UPDATED list of content that I think will be in the next update: Ibishu Wigeon - yes. The render looks to be in a highly complete state, more complete than even the first Wendover teaser. It would not surprise me if it were nearly finished as we speak. New gridmap - yes. The new tire announcement clearly shows a Gavril D-series trophy truck on the new gridmap, which seems to be coming along nicely. PBR - yes. Confirmed by Discord moderator. Linux support - yes. Confirmed in BeamNG documentation. Vulkan or OpenGL, finally - yes. Necessary for Linux support. Pigeon remaster - probably. This was teased as an April Fools' joke but with the Wigeon announcement, I'm not sure they were joking! Drivetrain improvements - probably. They're working on something, my guess is they are improving automatic and DCT simulation (finally!). Bolide remaster - maybe. This has been in the works for a long time, it's probably near completion unless they decided to scrap it and redo it from the ground up. Improved textures across the board - maybe. The new texture bake utility could help clean up some of the game's most egregious textures. RTX support - unlikely. PBR is a hard dependency for RTX support, which may come in a future update. There is no evidence it has been worked on to date. T-series remaster - unlikely. Not sure if what we saw was actually a remaster or just a few texture improvements. Tire wear or thermals - no. To the best of my knowledge, these are not planned and would make vehicles handle worse, not better. Release date: based on the usual update pattern, it's maybe just a month away?
Tire heat and wear making handling worse isn't a bad thing it just it's nature. Also I'm pretty sure the dcts already go updated. Nice list tho
I dont remember them saying tire wear and thermals were not planned, only very difficult to implement, but it's something that's very demanded from the community, and in the blog post about tires at the end they said "expect things to warm up a bit" wich might be reffering to tire thermals.
This might be one of the more interesting updates in recent times, I'm definitely excited! PBR is pretty awesome, and so is Vulcan. IDK enough about technical computer and rendering stuff, but isn't Vulcan also able to benefit users with weak GPUs? I think I remember reading somewhere that it can somehow split off stuff for the CPU to process? If so- this might be pretty good to cover up for PBR, which would probably demand more on the graphic side of things. If not, this might be a good time to start saving for a new GPU, since mine is barely cutting it as it is... And the new Gridmap nearing it's completion!
Wigeon would be a very nice surprise to have so soon after the Wendover, but don't forget jbeaming takes time too! Also I'm not sure who confirmed it from the moderators but it may have been misunderstood. PBR is confirmed yes but to my knowledge not officially confirmed for the next update, but very likely imo. At least a first implementation
Yeah what it does is that it make all threads work the same amount instead of giving 1 thread all the work.
There are also content passes for the H series and GM, both vehicles have been remastered but not fully.
The GM remaster was released as WIP and there have been teasers of an H series facelift and stoat even discussed the remaster at one point saying that it will come eventually.
