Tire heat and wear making handling worse isn't a bad thing it just it's nature. Also I'm pretty sure the dcts already go updated. Nice list tho

I dont remember them saying tire wear and thermals were not planned, only very difficult to implement, but it's something that's very demanded from the community, and in the blog post about tires at the end they said "expect things to warm up a bit" wich might be reffering to tire thermals.

This might be one of the more interesting updates in recent times, I'm definitely excited! PBR is pretty awesome, and so is Vulcan.
IDK enough about technical computer and rendering stuff, but isn't Vulcan also able to benefit users with weak GPUs? I think I remember reading somewhere that it can somehow split off stuff for the CPU to process? If so- this might be pretty good to cover up for PBR, which would probably demand more on the graphic side of things. If not, this might be a good time to start saving for a new GPU, since mine is barely cutting it as it is...

And the new Gridmap nearing it's completion!

Wigeon would be a very nice surprise to have so soon after the Wendover, but don't forget jbeaming takes time too!
Also I'm not sure who confirmed it from the moderators but it may have been misunderstood. PBR is confirmed yes but to my knowledge not officially confirmed for the next update, but very likely imo. At least a first implementation

Yeah what it does is that it make all threads work the same amount instead of giving 1 thread all the work.

If all that were to be in the next update, it would be the biggest update for BeamNG in a long time

There are also content passes for the H series and GM, both vehicles have been remastered but not fully.

There's been no hints of this as of yet though.

The GM remaster was released as WIP and there have been teasers of an H series facelift and stoat even discussed the remaster at one point saying that it will come eventually.

It will come, but I really doubt that it'll come in the coming update

    :confused::confused::confused:

Unless the tires are cold or you wear them down to shit, they would not make the handling worse in any too noticable way; if anything, it would make it better after a bit of driving

Currently the tires are basically always in their optimal operating window.
Thermals would add things like too hot and too cold that would reduce the performance of the tire.
However, while peak performance might be reduced in some case, the overall behavior would be more realistic.

Which is why I say it would be a shame if BeamNG never got them.

Speaking of tire physics, since it's been confirmed now that BeamNG's physics engine places a deformable layer of video game magic on the road to smooth out tire behavior, is there anything else this could lead to eventually?

Some of this "speculation" done here seems to be things like "hmm yes the next update will have content".

It sounds like BeamNG.tech updates are going to release every 3 months according to the documentation. Given it is supposedly going to share some improvements with BeamNG.drive (notably linux support), and I would assume (though I might be wrong) that it would be developed in tandem with BeamNG.drive. Could BeamNG.drive be moving from a 4 month update cycle to a 3 month one? This is just speculation, but I'm curious how this will play out.

The problem is that "optimal tire performance" in BeamNG is still not the best, so adding simulation that makes them intentionally perform worse would take them from "at least passable" to "Civetta Bolide in 2014" pretty quickly unless the tire model is better than I give it credit for
