So I was pulling out of a spot along the side of Main Street in Huntington this afternoon around 11:30, and some lady didn't notice me pulling out in her Suburban and sideswiped the front of my poor car :( Not going through insurance, since Insurance is a total scam and even though this was NOT my fault, I still will get it on my record, PLUS the CarFax will show it was in an accident. So we are settling outside of insurance. I got a guy in a body shop who hooks it up. We are both 50/50 in this, so no one is paying for eachother's damage. Great way to start the day, huh? Oh, and I had 3 car deals going today and all 3 fell through because these people have terrible credit, no money down, and are burying a TON of negative equity into the new loan. Shitty day, indeed. Damage pics below :(:(:(:(

Oh, and you can see the CAI I installed, the red filter thingy for those of you who have no idea. Sounds great :) I posted some mods on THIS thread.

Not A great day to start bad luck strikes sometimes[/QUOTE]

tell me about it! god im so pissed, tried to keep my car pristine (besides the fact that it is a dirty wreck right now). O well, I am going to have original parts, since I don't fuck with aftermarket, Taiwan parts. Getting 2 new headlights too, since I cant roll with 1 brand new and 1 old light :/

From the pics it looks like you pulled out and hit the side of her car. I don't see how it could have been her hitting you if you hit the door of the suburban.
    Am I interpreting it wrong?

yes I was pulling out, and she CONTINUED to merge into the right lane from the left as I was already pulling out for about 5 seconds. She also almost hit another car that was pulling out, and that lady actually stopped behind us and got out real quick to kind of yell at the woman in the suburban. It was essentially all her fault, but because of the situation, we decided to just handle it outside of court/insurance. Thank god I cant afford my rates to go up any more than they already are lol

Ah I understand. She merged into your lane when you were pulling out into traffic.
Yeah I don't blame you for doing this outside of insurance. They will fuck you over big time for little stuff like this.

It's always women driving those big, boaty vehicles with blind spots the size of Texas.
My friends mom used to drive a yukon around all the time. She handled it really well though.

wat, why is that lady driving a full size suv anyway? i understand if you have to have a vehicle that seats that many, otherwise wat is wrong with you lady, not only would you not need it, but your insurance would be more expensive then with a normal sedan or something

(and of course, if you do have to have that many seats, then at least learn how to drive it :/)

(BTW, in case it wasn't clear, not talking about OP (ik it should be obvious, but knowing this forum, some little kid or something would probably say something))

Because she probably has a family or something and it's nice to have all the space for luggage and babies and shit. It's her car, so she drives it around. I doubt she wants a big car to drive when she needs a big car, and a small car to drive when she doesn't need to drive the big car.

believe it or not, here in NY, Suburbans/Yukons/Escalades are pretty cheap to insure...actually, if I was to get a suburban and trade in my mazda, my insurance would go down. My mazda is considered a "Sports Car" according to my insurance company. To get a suburban, it would go down, since they are safe and highly visible and difficult to steal. She only has 1 daughter and a husband, she really does not need a Suburban. She said she likes to drive it after I told her I sell Chevy's lol I was like well maybe you should learn how to drive it (jokingly but serious at the same time lol)

its a good thing I have the curb-preventer tires. If I had stock tires, the rim would have gotten a nice rash too. The tire absorbed all the impact and nothing happened otherwise. Needs a fender, fender liner, headlight (2 headlights) and a front bumper cover. Not too bad, but it will cost about 600-1000 with everything said and done.

If I were you I'd just replace the quarter panel. Well if I had a nice paying job and money, I'd probably replace all of it like you.
That's the thing with newer cars, though. Expensive as hell to repair and you can't get parts from scrap yards as easy.

well luckily enough, I used to work at a parts dealer. I just called them, Both headlights are available (non-OEM, but exact replica) are 142 each (entire assembly) and the fender is 52 bucks, and the front bumper cover is about 40 bucks. Much more expensive than I thought, but I no longer work there so I cant get the wholesale price. (ABC Parts in Mineola, NY)

I could do all OEM, but that's REAL money. Each headlight assembly will run about 600 bucks (NON-HID/Non-Active swivel lights). I have the HID installed, slim kits stealth install.

Very typical for wealthier people to drive big SUV's whether they need them or not. My close friend/business partner lives in a nice modern suburb, houses worth around 300-500k and its all about excess for nearly everyone in his neighborhood. Constantly water their grass, have at least 3 cars (have a car that has some rust or is over 10 years old and the ordinance will be on your ass), a TV in almost every room, A handful of pure-bred dogs they can't train, exerciser, or contain, buy expensive shop tools they don't need of can't use, ect. A very materialistic, and wasteful society imo (of course I'll be the first to admit I'm kinda jealous of all that stuff). Driving a Suburban is probable every bored house-wive's dream, and just another way to show off your status.

My neighborhood is pretty much what you described.
The only thing different about my neighborhood is the cars. Ordinance doesn't really give a fuck what cars you have in your driveway/property. As long as they aren't grown in and abandoned or something.
And the shop tools. Most people in this neighborhoods' tools/equipment arsenal contains lawn equipment, a screw driver or two, and sometimes and set of wrenches. Of course it could be different there.
We have an arsenal of tools and shop equipment in the basement and we use all of it.
We aren't allowed to have boats in the driveway though.

Wait what? Huntingdon. Then in another thread you mention Bedford. Bloody hell, come on america, get some original town names :p
I live just outside of a town called St Neots. Go up the A1 from there and you hit Huntingdon. Go down the A1 ever so slightly and then onto the A421, Bedford.

It's hard to be original when it comes to naming towns considering that there are like 5 quintillion towns in the US.

Just fine it odd that in the UK there are a huntingdon and Bedford fairly close and the same in the US.
Part of the reason for "stolen" town names in the US comes from where the towns settlers come from. Cambridge MA was settled by people from Cambridge UK.
