it just would not make sense in that category of car a flat 6 or a V6 would make waaaaaay more sense i could see this V10 going into the new civetta, but not an SBR4
The SBR4 is rear engined though, i assume a 100 kg gain at the very rear of the car would screw with the weight distribution Also the SBR4 uses a flat-4, which is much smaller than a V10, I'm sure the devs would need to basically redesign the car to make space for it (unless they're planning a mid-engined SBR2 or something)
Exactly, for a version faster than the SBR4 S2, a Flat-6 would make the most sense performance-wise and, also, packaging-wise, when we think that there's little air between the top of the Flat-4 engines and the glass cover doubling as the floor of the rear cargo room. The SBR was designed for Flat engines and, with this chassis design, Inline and V engines would almost certainly intrude into the rear cargo room, deeming the glass cover useless.
remember it has pushrod suspension at the rear that comes over the flat four, any other engine would need a complete redisign of the suspension.
There are V8 Porsche 911/Boxster/Cayman swaps so I guess a V block SBR may be possible, but I don't see that as a factory option, even as a race car. It was designed for an f4 and looking at IRL counterparts any race trims should get an f6. A V8 would be pretty cool as a superbuild type aftermarket swap though... That would require pretty much an entirely new rear end though.
If we get an SBR remaster I could totally see a Flat 6. It could be available in configs similar to the porsche gt3, and gt2, maybe with a sort of STI/RS mashup for a lightweight package, since those 2 brands seem to be the main inspiration for hirochi, being awd focused brands with flatengines.
Totally forgot about the pushrod rear suspension and why it's there! Exactly! Flat-6s can make for some crazy versions of the SBR, faster than the SBR4 (and named as SBR6, of course, for distinguishing them from the Flat-4 ones - this also requires the name of the ICE powered SBR4 be changed to just "SBR", with the numbers "4" and "6" being added accordingly in the SBR and eSBR models selector). Hirochi needs to make Flat engines its standout feature, its USP. And the Flat engines of the SBR (both the SBR"4" and the SBR"6") can be the starting point for trickling this technology down to the more humble models of Hirochi, like the Sunburst and any other family car Hirochi will be making in the future (and has made in the past, since this is a game and the Dev Team is the one responsible for the vanilla lore development).
[(and named as SBR6, of course, for distinguishing them from the Flat-4 ones[/QUOTE] SBR4 means Shooting brake, rear engined, 4 comfortable adults fitting in it. Would probably be a trim level with the F6
Well time to retcon the name again as far as I'm concerned. The eSBR already drops the 4, may as well officially make the 4th character refer to the engine/motor. SBR6 sounds pretty cool IMO
I don't know what you're talking about. --- Post updated --- Uhhh, then why does the eSBR name not feature the "4" in it while still clearly retaining the 4-seater configuration? Let's be honest, the SBR6 nameplate sounds great for the Flat-6 versions!
That is what Gabe retconed the name to back in the day. I don't think there was ever an official acknowledgement of the nomenclature changing for the eSBR, they just went with what the community was refering to the teaser as at the time.
Hmmm, I see. So they kinda went with the community flow. Also, at the very beginning of the creation process, I remember reading that the "4" was for "AWD" but it later changed to "4 Comfortable Adults" because RWD versions were added too. Plus it makes sense why they use it to "sell" the good rear seat room because normally it's the Achilles heel of sportscars. But since we're talking about a Flat-6, therefore an engine with more than 4 cylinders, still having the number "4" (whether it means the passenger accommodation or not) seems a bit like the German nomenclature of giving badges different from the actual displacement of the engines. It could be a classic Porsche reference, something like "SBR4-4" and "SBR4-6" or "SBR4/4" and "SBR4/6", with the second number being behind a dash/slash and indicating the cylinders, distinguishing the versions from one another (just like in the nomenclature of the modern ETKs - "854/856", "Kc4/Kc6"). But then again, since the eSBR has no numbers in its name at all and it still keeps the 4-seater arrangement, then the simplest thing to do would be to change the single number according to the engine ("SBR4", "SBR6").
Just some random ( related BS ) SO i was just thinking if the Covet is getting a remake/remaster. Some things ( no not saying i want sedan. well all been there done that. While i hope one comes we will see ) 1 I think the base models Will be cool if you have a radio delete. as some ECO cars had no radio at all 2 Like the D-series maybe power windows and non power windows as well. 3 Will be awesome if the base model had Vinal seats ( cheaper seats ) 4 If dash had one RPM gage ECT not trying to sound bossy. Just hyped for the covet. EDIT just extra. I know 90% sure it will have carby mesh. It feels so odd seeing EFI mesh on a carbt engine
A gauge cluster without a tachometer would also be good for the base DX version, since cheap cars back then didn't have this feature, whether they were automatics or not (case in point: my Hyundai Atos doesn't have a tach, although being a manual, and it also has no power steering)!
Yep, I confirm I have seen some base models of the Agila without a tach. Also, forgot to write the model year of my Atos (since you wrote it): it's a '98 model and one of the first ones that were ever produced.
