Just because we have only seen one vehicle doesn't mean that's all we are getting. The developers usually keep a good deal of the content behind the scenes until release, albeit a lot more recently than in the past...
I know they hide a lot of stuff, but they are always playful as well, don't you remember the Bastion teasing in some map remasters? They weren't even explicit, but they left something, this update cycle has just been a weird one, the teaser being super straight with no hidden messages whatsoever, it's not their common behavior, which for me means that whatever it is they're doing, it hasn't been easy at all, thats why I'm saying the update might be a little bit further down the road than we expected
I wish the developers would do a better job of communicating. Are you afraid of generating too much hype and then falling short? Look around you; in the absence of effective management of expectations, hype builds itself. Are there hard truths you fear might anger the audience, for instance a severe delay in production? As a software developer myself, I understand that happens sometimes and there is nothing that can be done, and I am also smart enough to realize that I bought a long-term work-in-progress game with no guarantee of completion by a given date. Angry children and karens are not going to change that, so it's better to communicate with those of us who are ready to hear it. Manage expectations and let the kiddies cope, that is my message.
I checked their past teasers and only a few of them have something hidden in the background, so i wouldn't say this means anything significant
Has anybody noticed we are approaching the Ten Year Anniversary of the first video for BeamNG? Maybe that has something on the release date?
The update has been obviously delayed. So I speculate: Technical problems: not because 32bits deprecation, that's a subtraction not addition, but because improvements in graphics/performance/features The update will go much deeper than new cars/fascias/vsomething engine stuffed in fictional vehicle/other tiring USThread stuff Focus in the "play" vs "collect". e.g. campaign, scenarios, game, simulation stuff vs. Hotwheels stuff All of which would be good moves for the game and for all of us...
I feel like the devs would make an announcement, either here or on social media, if the update got delayed because of technical reasons
The one thing I really want from the devs is a 1.0 roadmap. It doesn't have to have a timeframe, but I would at least like to know what they want to do before the game will be fully released. We've been in alpha limbo for almost 9 years now, with no sign of being close to a full game release.
To be fair, they can't really delay an update while it has no release date. This delay is made up by you guys. You would also not be able to delay a shipment of a good which has no ETA
Agreed. This is the most recent scripture we have (found at an ancient temple): Why Early Access? “We want your support and feedback! We are a small team with big ambitions, and we want to share our work with you so we can continue development with your support and feedback in mind.” Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “It is difficult to give an exact number, but probably at least 12 months before we could call the game "beta" (feature-complete). Even then, development will probably go on for years, as the potential of our engine is extremely vast.” How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version? “We hope to make the full version into a fully-fledged open-world vehicle simulator, with a career mode involving various vehicular disciplines and event types, and other gameplay modes.” What is the current state of the Early Access version? “It is currently a sandbox vehicle simulator with a wide variety of vehicles and terrains, with lots of modding potential and some very basic gameplay.” Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access? “The price may go up as development reaches certain milestones.” How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process? “We always take suggestions and feedback from the community and try to satisfy our customers as best as we can.” Seriously, I love this game and admire its dev team and its culture of assimilating brilliant comunity members. Just talk to us, we are your allies, most of the time .
Atleast we can make basic guesses. I'm guessing it would either be at the last weekend of this month or early June. That's based on the time between 0.23 and 0.24 which was around 5 going on 6 months.
Would be cool with some "10th Anniversary" versions of the cars that has been in the game from the start
when is the anniversary? Makes a lot of sense and it's the only reason besides the addition of lots of new stuff, that justifies such long between-updates time.
