This thread is starting to become kinda a joke you guys. It went from actual speculation to 'CK did a thing that means it must be coming to the game in an update' and 'I want XYZ'. I some time back literally posted new files talking about career mode and what looks to be another scenario coming, and no one blinked because the bolide butt looked a bit different in a beamng background. Does anything anyone post here have much more than 'I want to believe/have it, so it must be so' to it?
It always has been a joke to be honest. There is some strange mentality "if there is nothing new speculations to discuss we need discuss about anything DUH" but when someone start a new thread to discuss something it barely get any attention. I don't want blame anyone, but in my opinion this is the result of "soft" moderators. I mean, this is so far only forum where everyone hit "quote" button... to first post... on thread without any replies. Not to mention threads full of offtopic (like this one). "General Discussion" is flooded with "HELP game is BROKEN after X patch" where it should be in "Troubleshooting" section or "I WANT X CAR MOD PLZ" where it should be in "Content Creation" etc. What's the point having that box with posting guideline when nobody won't correct people who don't follow them? That's just basic stuff.
to be fair, we're in that grey area after a new update hit and there's nothing to speculate with, and when that happens, EVERYONE loses the plot fast
I know this is mod, but its in official documentation. Maybe minivan is coming? https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/materials/materials_1.5/switching-from-015/
True, if only someone posted something to speculate on! oh wait, I did and everyone ignored it because of the bolide background!
Guessing it's gonna use elements from the Pizza delivery scenario in Italy. Makes sense for alot of scenarios to be test beds for career gameplay. I wish there were more campaigns as we haven't had one since the Wentward update.
So, to manage expectations: The next update will take longer (earliest mid Nov) as we want to work on bigger things that do not fit into the 3 month update cycle. We spend a lot of time to prepare and test the releases (i.e. 1-2 weeks feature freezes) and after the releases (1-4 weeks/hotfixes). Due to that we are planning to skip the next update and focus on implementing better automated testing to be able to release less buggy updates among a lot of cool other things Hope you can understand that we want to deliver a quality product and not something rushed. Thanks for being an awesome community!
Even with the longer cycle, I still don't think the community would be disappointed in the slightest, especially once they learn what's just around the corner.
The last 2 major updates were too close to each other imo, I couldn't even finish a mod before the next update messed with my mods, so this is good news for me.
so this might stop cars from getting stuck to each other and other bugs in the game that has always been a problem?
Fixing the cars getting stuck requires implementing edge collisions which is extremely complex for softbody physics, especially in terms of Jbeam, I doubt it will happen so soon.
Once again, I could not be more impressed with the level of communication that you, and everyone else on the Dev team, present us with, it makes it such a joy to be a part of this community. I could not be happier with the previous updates thus far, and am sure that whatever secrets you've got hidden behind closed doors will make any delay worthwhile.
I speculate dirt accumulation is coming. Only because I read it in the game docs under texture creation as being implemented at some point. If its not already been said already in a thread. It seems like the next logical step to bring a new level of realism that will work great with the new PBR materials. Ground displacement is a wish list item, but would love to see it too. More plastic debris particles from higher impacts and more shattering of side windows also comes to mind, but a wish list item. Just my few speculations
I also think some sort of dirt system will be added eventually, judging by how dirty the D-Series windshield is.
I could not quickly find where I had read it. It may have been in the help in the editor where it talked about textures. I did not see it when just looking for it again. The dirt accumulation.
