From the 2017's thread I was going to upload the file over there but I can't post due to being 3 years old so I created a new thread for it The 1944 Propeller is a steampunk inspired 4 door vehicle with a peculiar Rear engine, Front wheel drive system. One of my favorite fictional cars I've designed! The car wasn't finished due to reasons and I have no interest in working on the model anymore because it's very old and I'll be making a new and improved propeller and some of the community were very excited to try the car out before so here you go! Known Issues - Engine is not tuned - lots of parts that weren't added yet - Headlights texture issue - Makes a distorted sound when it crashes Credits: Atlas (Me) - 3D model and Texture @Driv3r1142 - Jbeam and Mesh & Texture edits If you guys want to edit the model/textures or tune the engine, knock yourself out. But I suggest asking @Driv3r1142 if you'll be editing the Jbeam.
I had been watching the original thread for a while, it’s awesome to see that it’s come such a long way!
Not really It was never finished due to our personal life and I took a step back from BeamNG. Now that I've returned, I want to do a complete overhaul because It was 2017 and I was still on my noob days back then [especially the UV mapping because I didn't know how to properly seam and that average islands and Packing exists], plus I'm learning how to Jbeam so I want to try to Jbeam the new and improved car myself
I remember being so excited about this when the original thread was new, glad to finally be able to use it (even if it is a bit unfinished)
If you don't mind the issues it currently has then yes, it's still useable, drivable, and can be crashed
but why only upload it now when for a long while you knew this wasnt going anywhere with the current status. bit odd to me --- Post updated --- when this does get remastered, i figure the drivetrain should be kept rear engine but RWD because just, what(only car i know of that used this layout was the dymaxion car)? plus maybe more contemporary but still absurd styling. (considering the propellor name possibly something similar to a studebaker bullet nose?)
I already had plans releasing the car at its current state years ago [Not without asking Driv3r1142's permission of course] but I took a step back from BeamNG for college and personal life. I'm releasing this car now that I'm back, is because the community were excited to try it out before, and to take it for a spin while the remaster is on the works. It will still keep the Rear-Engine FWD layout because the car's always meant to be peculiar/quirky There is also the 1947 Gregory sedan, and the 1932 Maroon Car Prototype (According to Wikipedia) that used the same drivetrain. I already have a lot of 1945 car references, mixing some of them up definitely might lead to some absurd styling
Ok so, I originally I was going to release the car as is and then move on to work on the remastered one, but I was motivated to fix the errors. The suspension noise is fixed, huge thanks to @atv_123 he also did some tunings that made the car smoother Currently I am studying on tuning the engine which I'm doing a lot of trial and errors. I am aiming for the Burnside's V8 manual version I'll be also attempting to add the missing parts which is - Radiator Support, Fan, Fuel tank, Exhaust, Engine bay parts, pedals & shifter, flywheel, and Propeller shaft - I was also thinking of texturing the car in substance painter but I decided to the keep it's 2017 textures. It ain't much but now it's got a preview
Textures may worth the work because it's weird in-game (second pic of your post for example) Btw , are UV for skins planned , or more accessory in general ?
Maybe I'll do it if I finally figure out how to apply PBR textures because I'm scratching my head lately on trying to add textures I made for this cube. I think I can do UV skins but configs I don't think so. There are a few configs I have in mind but I'll do it for the remastered version. Right now I'm planning to add the missing parts of the propeller
sorry about the bump but i was about to offer to remove the distorted suspension sounds and upload the "fixed" file when i read through the discussion and noticed someone already was working on that did anything ever amount of that or should i upload anyway and would i have the permission of the creator to do so? edit: nvm the file formatting is not what i expected i cannot even find what file the sound is in or the place that refers to a sound I have grossly overestimated my abilities LOL sorry folks
