My very first post. Firstly, a quick hello to everyone as a brand new BeamNG User, and I hope everyone is doing well at this time of the year. (What got me here) My first introduction to even hearing about BeamNG was via some GrayStillPlays Video's on Youtube that I watched probably a couple of years ago, and found the set-ups and scenario's very entertaining, and was amazed at this Game/Simulation. Upon getting a PC capable of actually playing BeamNG a while ago, and Christmas coming up, I decided I'd treat myself to it as something to hopefully have run with over the Christmas Break. As with all new things, felt a bit overwhelming and confusing at first, and still only having it for 4 days I've only just begun to scratch the surface, getting used to controls, and yesterday being able to work out how to install my first mod. It was really funny, as whilst driving around in BeamNG, whilst loving it, I was starting to feel very alone, and the world felt very empty, and thought to myself, if only the creators were able to add more "Life" into the game how much better is would feel as a real world. After some Googling, I was pleased to find the AI Car feature in BeamNG, then some more googling, lead me to this forum and the "Agent's Simplified Realistic Traffic Mod"s which is amazing and was the 1st mod I've installed. So, this leads me to my very first post here, and my hopeful request for advice. As a totally new player (4 days in so far) are there some "Must Have" / "Everyone Needs This" / "These are the things you need to get" Mods that I should look at installing? Rather than me just randomly picking a few items from the massive amount that's out there, I'm hoping you can offer me some advice on what "Must Have" mods I should go for. Many thanks in advice, and any advice most welcomed.
Hello and welcome to the forums I'd like to recommend the following three mods: The Hirochi CCF is by far the best car mod out there. I recommend downloading the Zeidio as well. The Classic Engine Expansion Pack. It adds new engines, parts and liveries to many base-game classic cars. CK Dynamic Skybox improves BeamNG's graphics by changing the sky. It's a must-have improvement imo. There are many other great mods out there. This is just a small selection of my personal favourites. I hope you enjoy
Thanks for the reply. It's hard to say, but if I'm honest "Messing Around" as opposed to something like "Serious Competitive Racing" would be a fair thing to say. Whilst often frustrating when stuck on a rock, then being upset that I took 12 mins to complete the course as opposed to the expected 3 mins!. I find that enjoyable. Part of why I'm growing to love BeamNG and what drew me to it in the 1st place. Watching people messing around and having fun, with sometimes stupid scenario's Maps with lots of "Height" and twisty roads for example. I've still much to explore.
Welcome to the forums, find mods that interest you personally, the Hirochi CCF is a stunning mod to have, its definitely one of the best ones out there, try and avoid anything too old because it will cause problems for you, but most of all, enjoy the forums! Also another must, get on the Beam Discord server
Thanks. I'm going to get that right now. I'm so sad that for some reason I cannot get the SkyBox mod to work as the images look gorgeous. I even downloaded the Add On pack for it, in case that helped, but nothing so far The " \ " simply does not bring up the UI for it. Despite everything being set to defaults and refreshed in that area of the options page. I have a English/British keyboard in case that makes any difference? I hope someone out there knows what the issue might be.,
Honestly, I'd suggest exploring the vanilla game first. It's come a long way and the experimental career mode and the huge selection of scenarios are a great way to get an idea of all the stuff the game has to offer
I changed it to E and it worked fine. Paid mod but will be free, the burnside windsor is a great mod worth early access, here's some free ones: Ibishu CrossSport 1994 ETK K-Series Car Jump Arena Ibishu Miramar 690/710 KLJP (Once it gets fixed)
Thank you. When you said "I changed it to E and it worked fine." Can you please explain what you meant? You mean you can change the key that brings up a mod? If so, can you please explain how this is done.
so, i meant for the ck skybox mod, here's directory radial menu>options>controls>search>skybox, and if you don't see anything there search up ck or car killer once you find it, click on the / and it will let you change it to what you would like
Thanks. I was just about to post that my Radial Menu is somehow different as there is no "Options" area on my Radial Toolbox.(perhaps you are running a slightly different revision of BeamNG?) But instead I went to the Mod area, opened up "Explorer" so show me the actual windows files and found the short script: { "bindings":[ {"control":"]", "action":"toggleCKtodBox"} ] } I tool out the word "backslash" and replaced it with an actual backslash "\", but that didn't work either. So I put the "]" character and it works! Yayyyy I wonder why it does not like the Backslash on my UK keyboard? I can type \\\\\\\ all day long

The Gavril Vertex is essential, it has a lot of crazy configs and customization https://www.beamng.com/resources/gavril-vertex-na2.13061/
