**Thinking about it, the title is a bit excessive :p**

I just thought I might broadcast a issue i'm facing relating to graphics and settings.
I'll just get down to it.
I am running DRIVE tech demo on an acer aspire v3-571g laptop the specs are as following:
    Intel core i7 (@2.5GHZ, overclocked to 3.5GHZ)
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    2GB NVIDEA GEFORCE 630M graphics
    On-board graphics (useless, basically)
I selected 'choose default settings' (or what ever its called :p) and it gave me the lowest possible settings on each customizable option.
I lag even with those low settings.
I'm running 2 23" external monitors (if that helps)
So, the question is why, why am i lagging with this decent hardware config?
Thanks for any help guys. :)

check your resolution, it was mentioned in the wiki that it has an effect on your frame rate.

when you start up the game, are you choosing the " run with high performance card" ?

I have almost the exact same machine like you, and i get about 30FPS all high settings but postFX disabled. I use the 320.49 WHQL nVidia drivers, and it works fine. Note that i have the HD4000 selected as the gpu in-game, but it uses the nvidia. I also forced the game to use the high-performance gpu in the nvidia control panel.
Also note that this Gt630m isnt a very capable gpu nowdays (it was midrange gpu eaven a few years back), so lowering the res/settings help alot. Also tweaking the graphics settings in the nvidia control panel can boost your performance a lot :) ..And if you have airconditioning, and a good laptop cooler, you can also overclock the 630M to have a 10-15% gain in FPS. I tried, the MSI Afterburner works, but look out for the excess heat, and only do an OC of 100mhz on both memory and core clock speed, as thats the most that it can handle while still being stable :)

Edit: Also, running 2 23" monitors take a bit "power" off your gpu, so there is less for the game to use. Im only using the built in display at native 1366x768, all settings on high, post FX disabled, and i get decent FPS. I am also doing RAM heavy stuff in the background, so there is only about 2,5GB of free ram for the game to use.

Edit2: I will try the best settings for the CPU too, and will check when does it give the best performance it can. I mean 2core mode, with higher clock speed, or 4core mode with lower clock speed. There will be a difference i guess :)

The alpha has a lot more features, so it must be more demanding. Try playing with the settings

My brother kept annoying me to put the demo on my moms laptop. I knew the FPS would be bad, but because when using the dedicated AMD chip (5 series) it would have these weird glitches all over. It reminded me of when you pull a car too hard in RoR and you get those lines stretching from the car to the side of your screen. It ran fine on the Intel graphics but it had to be at 480x320 or something. (1.2 or something ghz c2d)

My laptop runs it better (2.5GHz C2D Intel GMA x4500MHD (AKA Crap))

I got the same FPS in the alpha as the demo.
