I just bought this game and once it is done installing it goes to update and then I get a FATAL ERROR "unable to open file for writing ./update.exe"
If this could be fixed that would be awesome as I would love to play this game.

Run as administrator? Do you have full permission to the BeamNG DRIVE folder?

Yeah I have full admin rights and have run it in admin mode and the error continues to come up.

Same problem here. New file doesn't change anything. I run Win 7 64bit and chrome btw.

    Excerpt from bug report:

    09.08.2013 05:33:59.640|VERBO| JOB 000| started: update.exe
09.08.2013 05:33:59.640|ERROR| JOB 000| unable to open file for writing: update.exe : Permission denied
09.08.2013 05:34:01.650|ERROR| failed to download new updater

    Running as admin does nothing.

I just got this error no less than 1 minute ago and I've not had the error at all since I've gotten BeamNG the morning of it's release.

No, but doing so doesn't change anything either.

Try to pause/disable you AV-Software while running the installer. Worked for me.
