Hey guys! I just bought the alpha 1-2 months ago and was excited with every update. But i'm wondering that no more updates were released. I allready searched the forum for something by the dev's (something like whats the current state of development). I found nothing, so i want to know if there's a post of the current development status or something like that! Or some other news that show that Drive isn't dead. Greetings from Germany, tommyx22
Newest updates are that beamng is still being developed but it's taking longer because life happened/is happening
It is far from dead, just a bit slower than it used to be from your perspective. Look there for updates: http://www.beamng.com/blogs/
remember, like a month ago, gta v was released? well, i'm sure the devs want to do something else than only fixing this game.
Tha'ts good to know. I wish I could take a year out just to see what would happen by late 2014. Keep up the good work. Out of curiosity, is there a rough ETA on when slide nodes will be implemented?
remember, this game is still *early* alpha, and has a grand total of 4 developers. so its going to take some time. patience is virtue
Thanks for your answers! This is my first 'Early-Access' Game and i was afraid of that the project might got canceled. Only 4 programmers, wow! Up to now you did a great job, respect!
we are working on slidenodes, but there are also other things to be completed. Estama works his ass off, where did you get that from?
I don't know who told you that, but there is considerable work that has been done in the last months (even the last days/weeks). Most of this work is not directly visible (features), but infrastructure work in the internals of the engine. It mostly involves optimizations (10-15% better FPS on my computer, YMMV) and bug fixing/stabilization of the core. We are still chasing a nasty bug (with collisions), and designing/preparing the infrastructure for gaming features (races, AI, etc) and for physics features like slide nodes, engine reaction, etc. Hopefully we'll be able to stabilize the core again (after all the changes to it) and have another update soon.
People keep forgetting that Alpha, both as a symbol and term, is used to refer to or describe a variety of things, including the first or most significant occurrence of something. This is the very beginning of this awesome game and therefore there's still plenty of room for improvement. Patience will reward you at the end. And my congratulation to the developers and their awesome game.
"chasing a nasty bug (with collisions)" My favorite words I could hope to hear from a developer. I hope you squish it. I appreciate the work you're doing, I've heard how bad it can be for you
