Very, Very cool --- Post updated --- I was planning on doing something like this my own, but I am not good at making maps lets say the editor is not my best friend
UPDATE #2: Not much has changed, but I've added some more houses, did terrain editing, added a dirt road, a patch of forest, and a big piece of farmland.
AWESOME! But I would work on blending the textures in photoshop, or PDN because you can clearly see where you made cuts and pastes and such. You should use the clone tool in either applications so that the same texture shows up everywhere.
Well, it's always nice to see another map being made, we can always use a steady stream of those. As a mapper, I've made most of my own road textures, so feel free to steal some of the ones out of any of my maps art/roads directories. They're free for everyone to use. Always use proper intersection pieces so roads don't look like they're overlapped. Good luck with it.
May be, but I am just letting you know that they don't really look the best. You can see different shades of the road in stripes as though it was copied and pasted. Here is what I mean: Now, I made the same exact thing for you, erasing the weird stripes in the texture. It looks off right now, but I made it so it is seamless. You should throw them in game and take a look, you might like it more.
I'm not the best at importing textures, but I've put the texture in the "roads" folder and it isn't showing up. Do I have to modify the materials.cs? --- Post updated --- I think it's because the texture isn't a dds, even though the system thinks it is.
Yes, you have to write in the materials.cs in misc and in documents/beamng/levels/countryside/art/shapes/misc/materials.cs as well. --- Post updated --- Here is the dds of that, sorry I did forget to change it.
Ok, I modified the materials.cs file, and it's showing up ingame, but there's no texture. What am I doing wrong? (It's called Custom_road_highway)
Yea everything, I promise I will not change anything else or publish anything as my own work, you have my word.
OK! WHOOE! I got it to work in game (your lucky cause' rn I can't even get mine to work XD) and it looks great! I put a sample of the road next to your original road!
