Just curious, but would you consider adding this to the Barstow proper, maybe as a replacement for the 423 (Which is currently way too quiet)?
I genuinely would do it myself, but I have absolutely no idea how to code. At all. That, and I don't want to break the Barstow.
Thank you For this, it's exactly the kind of sound I've been longing for since they introduced the new system. The resonance in the midrange is particularly nice. Can you tell us exactly what engine it's sourced from?
Well, I can read....... The question was more on the lines of "which of these first-year engines did it come from? 230 cu in (3.8 L) L26 I6 250 cu in (4.1 L) L22 I6 283 cu in (4.6 L) small-block V8 302 cu in (4.9 L) Z28 V8 (Z/28) 307 cu in (5.0 L) L14 V8 327 cu in (5.4 L) LF7/L30 V8 350 cu in (5.7 L) LM1/L65 V8 350 cu in (5.7 L) L48 V8 (SS350) 396 cu in (6.5 L) L34/L78/L89 V8 (SS396) 427 cu in (7.0 L) L72/ZL1 V8 (COPO)" While it's clearly not the I6, I'm not really sure which V8 it is. Only that it's one of the performance options, as the slightly aggressive cam profile suggests.
Regarding what you said about people not expecting the mods to sound good, well, I just discovered your mods, so I didn't know you were that good at it. I just downloaded the RS4 sound for the ETK, and holy crap!! I must have done like 20 laps at the San Fransisco track. but the Vendetta's sound is just amazing. I ran that thing so long it overheated and blew a gasket, lol!
I just installed the mod, i select the 67Cam engine and it keeps sounding the same as the other engines. Any idea?
Sorry about the engine package issue guys. Will upload new version so it removes the guff from it so it can't be auto selected for a package . @GTHusky well that makes sense heh, thanks for all the compliments. The base sample work by Turn 10 is excellent, all i did was layer it up, add more detail, clean it and make the game behave with the sample quality! I hope to release some burbles for it for I'd like the devs to add another entry point for sounds so i can make an entirely independant layer by it self of JUST rolloffs, would sound epic.
I just tried your engine sound out a few minutes ago. WOW! Best engine soud I've heard in any car game! I agree, having rolloffs and the sound of the secondaries opening would be amazing. I love the ooooomph sound of a 4bbl v8 when you stomp on it and after a second or so the secondaries open and it makes a sound like a portal to hell has opened! I've always wished a car game would replicate that but they never have. Now I just need to figure out how to use this with the Barstow with a supercharger, that would be badass, except for that damn annoying backfiring I can't get rid of. It would be fine if it wasn't such a low quality tinny/trebley sounds, it's just distracting. Don't even get me started on how the road noise is louder than the engine in some cars even at 60mph lol. I just got the game a couple days ago and I am still learning about editing files, but it's coming along slowly but surely. --- Post updated --- Speaking of the engine package, is there any way to make that work with the sound to beef the engine up as we see fit whilst using your awesome engine sounds? That would be cool!
Tronadorous updated 67 Camaro V8 sound for Gavril Vendetta with a new update entry: Fixed engine package issue with same sound recognition. No engine packages here! Read the rest of this update entry...
After using this for awhile the only real problem is that the engine is so loud I can't really hear any ambient sounds, is there any way to turn turn it down? It's also a shame there isn't a shutdown sound instead of just making the idle sound basically go slower until it stops which sounds weird instead of just stopping immediately. By the way, have you ever considered trying to make a similar sound pack for Live For Speed using Car Sound Remixer? I made some custom sounds awhile back using CSR that had a pretty nice throaty V8 growl but these samples and your talent would make a world of difference! Anyway, still loving it and I got it working with the Barstow Bandit Trans Am and it reminds me of driving my 1978 Firebird I just sold a few days ago.
Volume is easy . Go into the zip file and into vehicles and into the engine jbeam scroll down to the sound config. There, it's fairly straight forward, just change the gain to say -4 or -2 and it'll be more balanced . Yeah I can't do anything about that currently there is no way to script in a shut off sound that I know of. Unless someone can prove me wrong then please help?! Lol. I've...not? Lol, never heard of it . Glad so and glad you're enjoying.
Ohh awesome thanks, that seems easy enough, I must have missed it in all the jbeam editing I've been doing, or I was just afraid of messing it up lol. I didn't think there would be a way to do a shutdown sound, but that would be cool. That and a custom starter sound that matches it with a groaning crank, can't beat that slow laborous start of a big engine! If there was a way to get the engine to drop from 700rpm to 0rpm faster the shutdown would sound good I think. I played with friction values a little but I'm afraid that would negatively affect performance. Lowering idle rpm would be another way, but then the idle wouldn't sound right. Nothing but trade offs it seems. Now if only the engine was customizable with superchargers and gnarly side pipes and all that fun stuff in the muscle car pack... Next thing I need to try to do is get the sound working with the Bolide for the Hyper Bolide. I can't believe I've been in the dark about this game since it first came out and I tried it. It's like a different game altogether now. Live For Speed is the most realistic car sim around as far as driving goes, but the graphics are not great, just the tire physics since they have a great physics engine. I used to play it online quite a bit with my oculus rift. Thanks again. --- Post updated --- Just wondering since you know how the sounds work in Beam, is there a way to turn down the crash sounds? Every time I crash it practically makes me go deaf.
