So I took a few hours and decided to finish up something I almost forgot...
I salvaged the original (too big) school model I had before I shrank it to fit the lot (as it was 100% done just about), and put it somewhere else, keeping the other school I had built by the elevated on-ramp.

Remember folks, STAIRS ARE RAMPS as far as the car is concerned. Have fun driving up and down those, but just don't land on the railing, you'll get stuck for-sure. :x
I have to re-sync the road set with reflectors on it yet, and upload. It makes the overlays for central left-turn lanes a little obvious (as they're from the old set yet) at times but that's alright, at-least you can see at night on them. The map still isn't prime-time ready for night driving though (the base game really isn't that great at night yet due to headlights being so dark, hopefully the headlight mod gets updated).
I am getting another migraine so I will hopefully get this road kit synced with the current map (as I made that and backed it up before the crash), and if it all works out okay, it will go and get uploaded tonight. Again if I have any issues or hit a snag I will upload during the day tomorrow when I wake up.
Going to eat something and play-test a bit for now, then pack and upload (again if no issue).
    --Bob out.

When I mentioned the Little Italy thing, I just meant a section of the city where the buildings look like the ones in the Italy map. As for the runway, the Italy runway is also on an island, but there's a fence in the way. My request was basically this: don't put a fence at the end of the runway.
I also saw something about an unfinished bridge. If you want examples, you should go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_to_nowhere (it has a list of unfinished bridges) or look up the Foreshore Freeway Bridge in South Africa (it isn't on the Wikipedia list, but it should be)

Also, on the highway that currently (I think) ends in a loop, you should add stubs that make it look like it was once planned to be longer, but cancelled.

    I agree with this.
There will be future off-shoots and other signs of updating and construction leading one to believe why there's lots of new concrete around.
THERE WILL BE NO FENCES BLOCKING ENDS OF RUNWAYS. There will be only a fence that runs mostly parallel to the runways themselves dividing the island in half length-wise. If there is a fence, it will be at sea-level under the runway so you cannot catch it with aircraft. So no worries there. While I couldn't fly a paper airplane or any aircraft outside of my SNES copy of Pilotwings, I will make sure that others can!

Patreon subscriber links have been sent out. If you did not get one, or cannot get the file, please check back in an hour or two, then message me on here with your Patreon name.
For folks who aren't on the Patreon but have contributed models / objects to the map (outside of doing so in exchange for help on their maps), give me a shout if you don't get a link today within the hour.

    Life tips:
Don't buy MEAT at UGO grocer in Tennessee or nearby areas from the refrigerators there in the store... Just don't. I get to go back there soon! Opened one pack and almost barfed at the smell, and I just barfed a few nights ago from the migraine - so this should NOT be my way of dieting. So entirely unless you want to feed/poison the Racoons (who might not even eat it) don't buy meat out of their fridge.

    --Cheers & enjoy!
If there are any issues with you acquiring via the Patreon-only post, downloading, or running the map, please keep me informed! Also let me know that it's working so I can say 'Okay, I can breathe again now'. Lots of pain today and hard to concentrate so glad I got that zipped and sent.

I used to work at a grocery store that had constant problems with stock rotation and things going out of date. Sometimes over-ordering was a factor, and sometimes our suppliers would even dump expired merchandise on us because they knew we didn't pay attention! The meat department cut most of its own stuff, so there was less of a problem there, but once I went shopping after my shift was over and found some meat in their cooler with a green tinge to it! The guy was still there, I got his attention, he took it away and I never had a problem after that, but still.

I totally understand. I too worked at a store for one year during my sophmore year at high school so that I could save up money for a vehicle (and so that I didn't have to work concrete construction work at much - grocery work - any of it - is a cakewalk compared to construction - especially when you're 16 as I was in 1998). I worked in the back though, technically I could be put anywhere, but that was primarily my duty to unload and process incoming grocery department freight. I liked it, and it kept me able to buy SoundBlaster and Matrox cards for my computer. I always worked. But not everything in a store is cakewalk, and if any one of the multiple folks who is in charge for keeping fresh stock and only fresh stock on the shelves & rotated properly fails to do their duty, the whole she-bang can go down in flames.
The UGO looked like a bomb went off the previous time I was in. It literally looked like something I'd reckon being more familiar seeing over-seas in a zone of (declared) war during a time of (declared) war - not something I'd see on domestic soil much less in my small town.
So really, yeah, BOOM, or so it looked. Can never be too careful - and I always check dates too. Dates are very subject. A can of something sealed up can (depending on WHAT it is and what it's in) last decades... use-by dates are preference there. A box of cereal without added dried fruit, that might be fine for a year out of date - but sprinkles, ask my retired mother about the fermented 6-years-out-of-date she almost fed to us years ago by accident on confections... well you can't ask her but man those things could have cut GLASS. *slightly muffled sick cat sounds emenating from behind the couch*
I worked again at a store around 2000 for about 8 months so I could move out of my friend's house where I was living since age 17 and have my own apartment (yeah!), ended up working construction soon after (manager singled me out and gave me a problem, I immediately went to family construction business boss and asked for job, got 10¢ more than I made an hour at the store, went back and signed out of store job permanently), which I held that construction job for years - and loved - even though it was the beginning of the death of my back - for at that job I caught, and held, a falling 569lbs gross-weight 55-gallon drum of Symon's Form-Release Agent (look it up) that tipped off the back of a pickup ONTO ME. No choice. Well bad back or splintered obliterated legs. I think I got the better of two evils.
People think you can't make good money at stores, if you stick with it, it's great. If you have a good staff choice above you, it can be awesome - but the opposite is also true. The benefits - for a DOLLAR a week or 2.50$ - yes two dollars and fifty cents - in year-2000 money - to get full benefits with everything except dental, yeah it was great, because those alone would have cost 30~100$ a week elsewhere, evening the pay out and making it competitive.
Sorry to make a huge rant, but yes, entirely, people that shop at stores often don't give the employee's enough credit.

    FREE Life tips:
So if there's any kids out there looking for a job, and you live near a GIANT/MARTIN'S/EDWARDS, and they still have the cheap benefits (they do as of 2015), WORK THERE, it's great, and it's easy to get full time jobs even if you're only there 6 months. Night crew is always hiring (if your back can take it)...

So entirely, lesson learned, we no buy meat at UGO, or U GO BARF.

In other news, If anyone has serious issues with the beta, give a shout, let me know, AI not working right where the road is done enough to work, problems with collisions, getting stuck, etc.
I will be picking up Roane County again for a week or so, updating Nevada / Tail of the Dragon for a few days (combined), uploading those FIXED maps (Patreon folks get the 1st, then THOSE maps go public a few days later), then returning quickly to this. I should be starting on Roane County or one of the other two maps over the weekend or Monday or something like that.
No hard deadlines here, but should be done with it all and back on this before the month is out. No order on exactly what map will come out with fixed versions 1st, either.

Roane County, Nevada Interstate, and Tail of the Dragon get new bridges, re-worked textures, and models with transparency issues will be fixed. Bridges will be directly ported (textures and all) from this map and when the maps using them are released, other folks will be able to use my bridges & textures for them, in their maps as-needed. They are modular and easy to build with, with next to no learning curve, and have tapered ends so that they don't eat the car's tires.
    --That is all.

If seeing my bank account exceed $500 didn't currently qualify as a significant emotional event, I'd probably donate. Already have the most recent version of So-Cal, eagerly awaiting this and the Nevada update. Honestly wish I could start modding myself, but wouldn't even have a clue where to start.

Of course, maybe that's the wrong way to think about it, and I should take some time to mess around, enjoy the game, fully digest the base content along with the 85 mods I've already downloaded before I start trying to be a superstar.

Hang onto your money bud. I use Patreon income to pay for the hundreds-of-dollars of software I pay for yearly to make this happen - on a fixed income.
World Machine 2 v. 3xxx (maybe that's World Machine 3 now, dunno) = 120$ plus 10% tax, one-time payment I think gives 2 years of updates, possibly 3, have to read fine-print but should be good enough for quite a while.
    Maya LT = 30$ a month plus 10% tax (that's PER MONTH).
Assets, textures, and various other things like sound-stage (which isn't that far off honestly!) and other environmental immersion pluses, are of-course extra.
    So, paying 33$ a month for 7 months, that's 231$ in 2018, plus 66$ this year thus-far (two months) in 2019. That's just shy of 300$.
Paying for World Machine 2 was 132$ (rounded by a few cents). - that's 430$ or so or roughly within a dollar or two of my total cost to make this map happen thus-far.
Basically, long story short, while one may think I'm making good money doing this (or not), I'm not really. Though at the end of the year, I should be able to make ends meet after taxes on income are done.
However, don't let that nay-saying get you or anyone down (in fact I wasn't nay-saying at all, I was just being face-value and transparent), as long as the software costs are covered, I am quite pleased and will happily continue plugging away with making mods (be it this one, or maintaining other mods which I pledged to do for years now), bringing to BeamNG what has been lacking or otherwise under-serviced. Things that wouldn't be possible without community-funded projects to make them happen. Surely it won't be overnight (which should already be obvious), but eventually, they get far enough along, to see to completion. The fact that at this rate I won't go broke doing it, helps greatly to encourage project goal fulfillment.
Why don't I work for someone doing this? Well, surely if the money was good enough, I could probably, but herein lies the issue: I am disabled physically, and often stuck at the computer. I wouldn't really be healthy enough to work 5~6 days a week for someone else, as my health from day to day isn't consistent. With this I can set my own schedule. Can't sleep? Get back up and do something at 4am - it doesn't matter. Can't move because of back problems? Stay at PC and try to accomplish something. I would have still been working in factories around here (I love to be super-busy, believe it or not), if I had the health to. Realistically though I do not, and so I do what I can (and just learning to do things only within my means and not injure myself if only for the sake of 'doing something' outside of the computer), I do things when I can, and when I can't, I just sit here, and model buildings or mod my hide off.
That being said, you'd be hard pressed to find someone that both knows more about construction AND infrastructure (from designing, grading, to successful implementation in everything from set-backs to the right materials for the job)... so I might as well put this to use.

So to you folks, who donated to this project, I salute YOU.
You have given a disabled and otherwise thrown-to-the-wayside individual a purpose, goals, and a means to achieve them.
    Thank-you for your support.
For those who don't have much money, do not fret. I've been there. When I was 29 I was making 1000$ a week take-home, had a paid for vehicle with 43,000 miles that was 8 years old, NO loans, but have also been at the opposite end of the spectrum with no vehicle walking to work for a mile or two each way per day, in the winter, working for next-to minimum wage at a grocery store. Those years were 3 years apart, too! I worked as hard as I could, sucked up all the hours I could, and kissed as much rear as I had to, to be successful. Remember, when you're at the bottom, the only way you can go is UP.
If it means eating or not, keep your money, I'm not broke ... but if you have a windfall of cash one day, don't forget about me if you enjoy my maps. I won't hate you or think less of you either way. I am a totally fair person, and at nearing 40 years of age, I tire of merely 'playing' games and want to make my own. I'm not selfish so I wish to share them with everyone I can - and I shall one day with this project, too. There's well over 1000 hours of work post-So-Cal version of this map on here alone, and over 3,000 hours of work alone on Roane County TN. No drugs, no drinking, just MAPPING and modeling, and lots of it keeps The Bob happy.
When I work on other projects over the next few weeks or until the month is out (whichever occurs first, anything past will be postponed past the next Beta release for this map), I will put links-backs to this project so maybe we can get some more folks on-board and possibly accelerate development a bit by allowing more resource/asset purchases.

Until then - please post questions, comments, suggestions / wish-lists for this map here so that I can see them.
Thank-you for your time, patience, and commitment towards a common goal for the benefit of BeamNG fans everywhere.
    Most Sincerely,
    --The Bob.

    Great IDEAR (Idea)!
Will try to make that happen.
If you can give me a bit of time on that, will surely show some more complete progress when I'm picking this up again (two weeks! working on fixing my other maps right now for two weeks).
I've got some great stuff coming up to make old maps new and interesting again (as much as two weeks permits me to, realistically).
Thanks! I love this game. I love it more now too, for one good reason.

This brings me to my next topic:
So while messing about and getting a chance to finally try the traffic mod by @Gamergull on ECA. It's a mission, that's very open-ended (or is it open-middled?), allowing you the freedom to go from point A to point B. That's not the point though - the traffic, DYNAMIC TRAFFIC is the point. I had about as much fun as one could have in this game outside of running a combine harvester through a line of pianos in downtown Rockwood in Roane County map about a year or more ago. I couldn't believe how much it reinvigorated this game for me. Enter Tail of The Dragon...
The discussion page is here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/tail-of-the-dragon-deals-gap.39818/
You'll want to check in there in a couple of days to see if I've got traffic working on it yet or not, as I'd like to include that as a pack-in bonus with the next map update on it (with obvious credits of course).

So pardon me while I attend to maintenance on my other maps, as something I committed to doing for quite a while now - too long, too long!

    --Cheers!

    Hey there Bob,

When the map gets released, will the individual buildings become part of the modular road kit as well? I'd like to create a better city using custom buildings!

So Bob, I recently drove in to Chicago for the auto show. There are two features that I thought would be of interest. Now both would be difficult to implement, however no other game has ever gotten them right. One is the Elevated railway. I traditionally take Lake street from the Burbs to the Loop (I'll get to that). A large portion of lake street travels under the L. It is a unique experience driving under the track between the pylons.

Secondly Chicago has a large central part of the city, The loop. It is the main business/financial district. What makes the Loop unique is the vast underground road and tunnel system. It is made up various main roads IE Lower Wacker etc.... And various under ground garages and building access points. There are also whole businesses that operate under ground. Just throwing down some new ideas for you too chew on.

I actually have a mockup of Lower Wacker made by someone on here (who's been banned), he had given me permission to use it, so I will have to do a little touching up and I think it could be useful.
It is already planned to go in, though I'm not 100% sure I could do something as vast as they have there, I could certainly do *something*.
Elevated Metro is planned. I have some (donated!) elevated tracks, just not the whole set and not something that goes from ground or underground, to above ground (though, technically speaking, I could entirely make ground-level track go up to it in a pinch). The elevated stuff would be in the more deteriorated side of town, actually.

The underground area was originally the street level. They built an additional level above the original roads so that pedestrian and regular commuter traffic could use the top level, and trucks and deliveries could use the lower level, out of site, and not jamming up the roadways for commuters. Either way, it's pretty neat and definitely will go in to some extent, into the map.

    Both good mentions!

I had to fix up Roane County TN USA map. This was known for about 3 months BEFORE I finally updated it in the last few weeks.

Regular updates will re-commence within the next day or two on this Los Injurus map, via this thread. This map project won't die, but in the past I've made a commitment to maintaining my maps if they're busted, and I will stay to my commitment.

Just so everyone knows, there is work being done on Los Injurus again. Building more roads here, and the beginnings of a new parking-lot for what will be large buildings that don't yet exist.

The modular road kit contents - a mere 5% of them if that, are visible in the box on the right inside the editor. Yes, they go together like LEGOS, and will be free to the community upon release of this map.
The large buildings go to the right of the shot. The sunken roadway (somewhat out of-shot on the right) will turn into a tunnel and will meet another road further out of the left side of the shot (there can/will be a double-decker section of main route and some more tall buildings interspersed with strip-malls and the like).

We need a car dealership, why don't we have a stinkin' car dealership. I think there's one in my Roane County map I got from game source files. Might have a look into that tomorrow, as I need to model some buildings and pull my weight. Keep tuned for more progress - the beta is a few weeks away but shouldn't be longer than April 7th~10th or so.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Roane County betas that came early via Patreon messages, so if you're a member, DO check your emails. If not, it'll be on the repository today/tomorrow/whenever the moderators get around to figuring out how to make a 1.25GB file work on a 500MB limited repository :) Oops...

The seawall and a few more roads are in place, ready for buildings, props etc.

Yes those stairs will totally work as a ramp, 100% sure on that, just in-case you couldn't get enough speed up before you hit them.
While the seawalls look like the bridge abutments, they are indeed new pieces (though similar) made just for this task. They're not final but they're quite close. I will be adding railings to the top, and other things to them as I go through and finalize them. Definitely needs more beach props, even though this is an artificial beach on the lake. Now you know what the parking-lot will be for.

Spent HOURS on these seawalls, but they're 95% done. And to think, I thought they were done before... NOPE.

Each section of seawall (~100 feet or so - 35~40 meters or something like that) is approx. 7 draw calls. Most all the draw-calls are mirrored across the straight and corner pieces, as I made the corner piece first. Added a middle LOD, so the railing doesn't suddenly disappear when you're a block away from it.
FPS counter is still visible in this last shot, it's still nice and high, allowing me lots of room for more detail.

So anyways, it's been a productive afternoon/evening. I won't be up terribly late, but more to do on this tomorrow. I feel like making some SKY SCRAPERS - and the car dealership (I will use the one from ECA and modify it somewhat so it doesn't look directly lifted from game-assets).
