Hey, I'm Jess. Just wanted to say thank you sooo much! Mam. Valley is awesome! I love snow maps and this 1 was so much fun. Great detail, felt realistic, and very fun! You're an excellent modder, I look forward to more of your work. I hope more snow in the future! It's all amazin though, really great job!

Well, at some point this winter I may put out a medium-sized snow-map with proper slippery roadways - and yes you will get STUCK if you go off-road with a car in it. I am going to do a wintery Pennsylvania scene when we get "Tiled Terrain" because it needs to be 20 miles across - but only highways!

I try my best to put out a high-quality set of roadways with each map for cruising/crashing. I am doing Tail of the Dragon if not already obvious, small/simple road design, nothing but drifting-friendly S-curves through mountains. Once it's out in a 1-2 weeks, Then So-cal update, then possibly my city map project.

Yea... that's what I did to stuff the truck quickly....

I wonder what happens if I stuff propane tanks into the mix...

GOOD IDEA! What happens? Your vehicle - and your piano's insurance will go up rather quickly.
"Don't try this at home kids"
I can just picture the 'all those endearing charms' song from Looney Tunes where the piano explodes on the 5th-6th note.

I never considered Threadripper, just because of it's high price, high power consumption and my usage.

Threadripper, while expensive now, will come down a bit as the CPU price wars between intel's X299 and AMD's TR-cpu platform X399 get well underway after it's initial (recent) launch. Ryzen is still 100% a great choice if you don't do videos/streaming regularly/for an income. Ryzen loves Beamng computations.

Couldn't fit this, AMD's TR 8-core 1900x cpu, with quad channel 3200mhz ram support, and 64 pci-express lane support, etc, will be out August 30th for 549$, though for how long it will be that price, who knows. 1950x 16-core = 999$, 1920x 12-core = 799$, no coolers included on X class cpus.

Well, no offense meant, however, the update included pianos, so I couldn't resist. Usually I try to keep politics to myself, but I digress, It's sure fun to put 8~10 pianos in a moving truck and go joyriding.

thanks for the pointers on my thread. I am well aware that an I5 is only a baby step, but I am getting the whole tower for about 325 out the door. I am probably going to build a beast when tax time comes along. My wife got a new car last year, I don't think 600 bucks on a gaming rig is too much to ask this year.

Oh, well, even if it's a 2xxx series i5, if it's only 325 bucks, hey that's not a bad deal, for a whole tower, if it's a 4xxx series, it'll really run this well. You might be able to hold off on upgrading for a bit, but 600 will definitely get you something nice with Ryzen, and I am sure you can use your drives over if SSD is out of price-range (and keep GPU if it's good).

What's the limit of objects a map can contain, and do forest objects count?

FPU is Floating Point Unit, processor in the CPU, does physics math for Beamng.drive, it's slightly rounded but still very accurate and is very fast compared to not using FPU processing. The small bit of rounding it does will result in discrepancies, which is the shake, it's merely visual and does not affect game-play.

        bob.blunderton
The further out you go, the bigger the number, the more rounding will be done, so the more the shake. It's akin to many games like Minecraft where going too far results in oddly configured worlds. So a millimeter of shake @ 2 miles becomes obvious at 4 miles. At 20 miles from center, it's a small/moderate earthquake for the car.

Know exactly what you want to make, from the start. Base your map on one of the game levels to save time, and use trial of L3DT to put out a 4k terrain of choice, to have a fresh terrain. Use google street view and pictures on the net to get inspiration. Again, best of luck - if any more questions post here or private message me.

Yeah new cars are pretty ugly for the most part. The jagged edges and overall strange design are the worst parts. Over on the other extreme, the super curvy cars of the 90s are also pretty ugly.

It comes down to this, new cars don't have bumpers, one tap in a parking lot and you're out a good two grand. I could spend that on a bunch of brand new PC components and replacing my 3-year-old 4790k PC (not that I need to). New cars all look the same. I have enough issue forgetting where I parked the @#$%ing thing, and is part of why I hate WalMart so much "Drat, NOW where did I park the car?".

Plus what it comes down to also, is that, a Radiator/Condenser fan and shroud is 50 bucks, a fender is 56$ shipped (I paid 45$), light is 50$ or less, hood is 90$, starter is about 70$ and takes <2 hrs to put in (I replaced mine, and threw out my back in the process). Cost-efficient, common part availability, easy to fix, etc. So the Crawl-la will keep crawl-la-ing for a while yet.

Well, I will admit, not a fan of the 85~91 series GM's one bit, but the 80~85 models of most of their full-size line was great. The 85-and-up Century/Cutlass Cierra/Celebrity I've always hated since it's was new when I was a child. They weren't half the car the full-size GM's were, though it's not to say it's out-right a BAD car. GM made a much better move making the Lumina off said Celebrity chassis.

Just a little request , can you make an airport on your next map (Leading Brand City) or any other future map ?
      1. bob.blunderton
        bob.blunderton
Yes, Roane County has one, Nevada Interstate has a large and small one, Leading Brand City will have a medium-sized one with a concrete runway on the shore of the river, for easy take-off and landing.
