the thing is, that drive doesn't really require an awesome GFX, CPU is what really matters. 4 threads is minimum to run this smoothly i guess

No need for that, the replay system from RoR was perfect ;) For me, this would be the best system of replays, where you can watch the whole thing...
I know that it is slippery terrain, but if you won't push it to the maximum and just drive at steady low speed, then it should not slip down....
