Wouldn't be cool if beamNG drive added NPCs? they can walk around maps, and just be NPCs! since beamNG drive is a driving simulation game, I am pretty sure this idea won't be added. but it's good to talk about it, these NPCs models can be crash test dummies, or they can look like humans, there is a lot of possibilities with this idea, you can ram into them, make sick dashcam videos. anything! but there are some issues, these issues are in the crash test maps, they walk around, and it won't be cool. and they can block the user and other stuff like that, there can be an option to disable the NPCs, to prevent these issues. do you think it's a good idea? oh and by the way... I posted this at night so my grammar may not be that good.
honestly, pedestrian NPCs sound like a good idea, but it's definitely not something that will be a priority any time soon, maybe if ever. they'd have to have their own AI paths, behavior, and ragdolls. they'd also (probably) have to have dialogue and other animations to make them match the quality and detail of the cars.
This game is going for full realism and it wouldn't be realistic at all to have crash test dummies walking around on maps. Sure it would be cool to do for a mod, but making walking physics is absurdly hard and I think only the devs can do it. I would probably do walking dummy pedestrians if I could but I can't.
imagine dummies that look like humans with realistic ragdoll physics and blood ez realistic road accidents
I don't think the devs want their game to be MA15+. Anyone who has tried to make human looking ragdolls have been banned or not allowed to upload them on here. There is a reason no human looking characters are in the game (which are able to be crashed into)
That's not true, there is a breakable human head mod on the repo that looks disturbing and is somehow allowed
Yeah that is weird. Maybe because its not really human? IDK but the devs might need to draw a line in the sand when it comes to this stuff. Can i make a zombie but not a human? This one was deleted by the mods.
Yes, but BeamNG (the company) is trying to cultivate a certain theme of their game. For example, it might be an incredibly in depth simulator using realtime softbody physics for entertainment (BeamNG.drive) and scientific purposes (BeamNG.tech). The original post said they should be added by devs and walk around. By adding GTA-esque features, it might jeopardize those values. Most people outside of the community only know BeamNG as some crazy crashing app due to the massive amount of low quality, worldofmods.com cars, filled with stupid trends ( SIREN HEAD CAR VS AMONG US CAR 0: /s ) videos on YouTube. Imagine how adding splatterable pedestrians could possibly change the view of the game. Then you find computing limitations. Say computing power is 1 car = 10 dummies. Just to make sure every side walk in view is filled in lets say downtown WCUSA, you may need around 70 dummies, the same as 7 cars. Then you need AI, they need to react to other dummies getting hit (scared, flee, etc.) and walk around. Of course the whole dummy feature could be turned off, so performance doesnt really matter unless every user really wants to use the feature.
yeah I agree. --- Post updated --- indeed --- Post updated --- that is true as well --- Post updated --- oh yeah! saw that --- Post updated --- yeah. --- Post updated --- yeah... with blood thats a awful idea --- Post updated --- yeah --- Post updated --- that is true. --- Post updated --- i agree with you --- Post updated --- yeah
