Update Speculation thread

That wing is absolutely attrocious. Looks like such an afterthought.
Almost as bad as the Toyota Camry TRD wing...

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the design.

This makes a ton of sense, since a new Civetta model is coming. It's also making a ton of sense because the SBR4 is already a very fast car and, with the fast car crowdedness coming, the Bolide file needed some differentiation and giving the Bolide model name to this file achieves just that. It's now the "bolide" file, the "sbr" file and the "nameremainstobeseen" file!

I agree but not because it looks like a Toyota Camry wing but because it's too simple of a design. The Camry wing you picture has an interesting design, going up and down, and the side winglets have a sleek low profile. The wing of the new car just looks large and monotonous. Also, the towers supporting it get in the way of the horizontal upper rear quarter air outlets, which may be bad for aerodynamics.
Moreover, I believe an active rear wing can also appear too.

Also yeah V10 is good option for D Series since it.... uhmmmmmmm....... Repeats Ford F Series, Chevy C/K, Dodge RAM (mostly Chevy).

 

Cool it, all we've seen is concept art. Game devs show off concept art for stuff that doesn't make it into the game all the time. The unfortunate truth is that it's probably just a design study

Someone has to get expectations under control, otherwise people will get very mad when that's what it ends up being, devs will get abuse lobbed at them and they may not feel inclined to show us more. I remember at one point someone mentioned that modern supercars were specifically not planned due to technical limitations (map size, tire and aero models breaking down at high speed). Either way, it's always nice to see what the devs are thinking even if it isn't destined for the game!

i'm not sure if this is the person you're mentioning but at one point I think it was leeloo that (in the interview prior to 0.24.1) stated that when people suggest supercars they kinda just can't due to technical limitations
however, I don't really know how the issues you listed could even get in
there's so much wacky shit in the game modded or unmodded, so I don't really get issues like that really existing for the dev team
although I'm probably low on the "knows what they're talking about" scale

 

I doubt they would tease the community with an image of something, with no intentions of delivering on it.
people are still mad after 10 years about the civetta fulmine not existing, and that was nothing more than a name and short verbal description.

I'd guess they've shown off a design now to get people to make suggestions about the aesthetics in an early stage.
so everyone, complain about the design while you still can.

 

I'm actually even lower on the scale of knowing what they're talking about. On Twitter, the official BeamNG account responded to "wen relez" with "When it's ready," so I guess it is actually being worked on? I wonder what kind of technical changes, if any, have to be made to make it work.

the way that the devs worded it makes it seem like they're in the early stages of something, although what we don't know yet

Since the bolide was recently updated, could it be a new civetta? Or could it be some gavril sportscar like Ford gt40? Looks more european so im going to say civetta

Given that it clearly says Civetta right on the boot, i'd say it's definitely a Gavril yeah

 

I feel like the Fulmine name would fit well on this car as it means lightning in Italian.
As for the wing I think lower trim models should have no wing or an electronic spoiler while higher, track focused trims should have a fixed wing that fits the design of the car (think Aventador SV).

 

I doubt it because I saw the classic "Wen relez? When it's ready." crosstalk in the tweet about this car and this is the classic BeamNG answer when something is being made in the BeamNG HQ!

Also, Fulmine is a fantastic name for a car. It drives home the point of the car being fast and wind-cheating!
There's also the Giallo Fulmine colour in the Civetta colour palette, so this would be a nice combo!
