So where is the priority being put for development? Content or optimization for end users? You're acting like they're only able to do one thing at a time

What "sob stories" lol, I'm sure they are actively working on it but not just focusing 100% of their manpower on it because that would be a waste of resources, and the result are not instantly visible because it's just a lot of work behind the scenes (seems like most work on this game is 90% behind the scenes stuff not visible to the end user at all). Also it's not like none of the devs themselves have AMDs, they can't be ignoring an issue that they are affected by themselves.

Some of the issues on AMD were fixed, I'd be glad to know if there are any performance improvements on DirectX 11 in comparison to 0.27 :)

performance has improved notably since 0.27, i used to hover around the low-mid 50s on mixed low-medium settings on certain maps (JRI and italy spring to mind) but i can now get a smooth 60, and fps in the 70s with vsync off
gpu utilisation has increased a lot too, nice to see the game finally get an update that makes the performance on amd better instead of worse (maybe my incessant complaining about it did something who knows)

Performance has improved a lot! DX11 now performs very well. I removed my DXVK files to test it and fps floats around 65-80 with full GPU utilization (6700 XT @ 3440x1440, no AI) versus low 50s and ~70% GPU utilization before the update.
On top of that, those weird ass lines on the ground are now gone! Awesome update, made the game enjoyable again. ;)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! My GPU utilization has finally gone back to 100% in the regular game! Vulkan mode seems to have gotten better too because it didn't crash during gameplay, only until after I closed the game where did it "crash". But now I don't need to use Vulkan anymore since the regular game engine works now! I'm very thankful for this fix as it has been frustrating for us AMD users to fully enjoy the game till now

Performance is WAY better now, basically on par with 0.20 which is the last version I remember that did not have performance issues.

Did you have to do anything after the update? I have an MSI 6700XT and am still experiencing usage maxing out at 70% and im getting that framerate but at 1080p. I did update my graphics drivers and restart my PC but performance seems about the same for me. Weird lines on the ground are gone, tho.

Big jump in performance/gpu utilization with the new update. Been switching back and forth between a 3080 and 6950xt the past few days and was surprised to see a noticeable jump in performance when I re-installed the 6950xt in my system. If you can share, what are the next steps for optimizing performance on AMD GPU systems in the future? I'm trying to decide on whether to keep the 6950xt or return it and continue using a 3080.

hey there! i know this comment was a while ago, but have you ever figured out how to fix your GPU usage? I don’t have an AMD GPU but I have the same issue. BeamNG generally uses about 60-70% of my GPU on Italy and West Coast and CPU at 40-50% with traffic turned on (7 or 8 cars I think). I use the normal preset at 1440p at 144Hz.. If I turn the graphics settings up, it uses more of my GPU, but then I get significantly lower fps. If I turn the graphics settings down, I’m still getting the same framerate, just at a lower quality. Did you ever fix the low GPU usage or is it a BeamNG problem? My usage on other games is generally fine, almost always around 80%+

The CPU is the limiting factor somewhere in the engine's pipeline if you're seeing GPU % below 95-100% and getting the same framerate without a limiter in place. This is on the engine and not on your system more then likely. Clearly there is work that needs to be done within BeamNG. Something odd might be going on too of course...

Stabilizing Vulkan is 1st priority in that regard :)

If you use a lot of vehicles, most likely single thread performance in DX11 mode might limit you.

is there any way I can avoid this? Like switching to something other than DX11 or is that the only supported API?

Ive had a look at my core usage in task manager and my CPU cores are all around 40%, but does that take into account threads too?

There is an experimental version of Vulkan API however, it crashes when the game runs out of VRAM.

    I have a similar problem
My 6900XT at ultra settings 1440p still sits with low usage even after the update
with about the same FPS as 0.27

LOL Currently running BeamNG version 0.23 on an old AMD quad core PC, what are the odds updating it to latest will significantly improve the experience or just be unplayable due to older perhaps unsupported hardware? What was your review of 0.23

So now the performance of 6750xt can have a performance close to 3070 in this game? This will determine which one I should buy.

Performance on RX 6800 XT hasn't improved that much, fps are still kinda unstable, with 50-80% gpu utilization, i have version 0.28.0 ultra graphics, no ai spawned, only beammp mod, with latest gpu drivers, gpu performs normally in other games.
But one thing i noticed is that those black lines on roads are gone thankfully, also when i don't move my camera, fps jumps to 150 which is interesting
