Hey everyone, I've spent almost the entire week working on this, adding new content, polishing stuff, fixing bugs, and overall just tidying it all up. Since gauge lights were long overdue, I started off by doing exactly that. Thanks to the new latches feature, I was able to set up a basic "door ajar" icon on the dash for both the front and sliding doors. I also finally added accessory mode screens. BeamNG v0.28 now allows for PBR emissive HTML textures, so I also converted the screens to use PBR. This also means that the screens now properly reflect sunlight. I also finished the lettering and got proper names and trim levels set up. I then made a simplified traffic version of the Scout. This meant making an entirely "new", simpler jbeam structure. Most of it is borrowed from the Vivace as simplified vehicles use mostly the same structure anyway. The stock version (in blue) has 840 nodes, and the simplified one (in yellow) has 260. That's a whopping 60% reduction. Effectively meaning you can run ~3 (if not more) simplified Scouts for the same computational price as a single regular one. With all of that done, there was only one thing left on my to-do list : configurations. I quite frankly hate making configs, as it takes a while and it gets very boring after doing a few. Nevertheless, I landed on a healthy 32 configurations. This includes transmission options, so without counting that in there are 17 different models to choose from. Here's the full config list : They also all have accurate performance stats. It took over 2 hours for the game to go through every single config and test them all out. So that's it for now. I'm really happy with how this is coming out and I can't wait to let you guys drive it I only have a few files to clean up, textures to cook, and some tidying up left to do. Once that's done I'll be moving on to beta-testing and then once every bug is flushed out I'll be letting you know here. Thank you for reading!
this is pretty cool as modders don't really talk about this does the game have an built-in feature to calculate this stuff or do you do it manually?
there is one iirc, although its kind of a mod https://www.beamng.com/threads/performance-statistics-feedback-thread.28306/
32 configs is insanely more than enough! your work is incredible, when it releases i hope the devs get to try this out fully and perhaps maybe just mayyybbbeee they can make you an offer in which would result in this being an official vehicle implemented into the game.
pretty sure Lucas said that it may possibly not be included on release, but there is a chance it could be added in the future
